  memory for LGEO

What is the minimum memory a computer needs to render a POV-file with LGEO-parts? 128Mb? 256? more? I know it depends on the size of the file, but is there a sort of guide for it? I need to know for the REND101 manual. Jeroen (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) There isn't one. In practice, the more avaliabel memory that POV-Ray can use the less time it takes for POV to render. The speed of the CPU *doesn't* matter as much as the memory. I've tested POV on a dual-P3-650Mhz (256MB RAM) machine and a) (...) (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) My computer has Win98se, 64Mb memory and I never encountered problems with LGEO parts. Probably 32Mb is sufficient for models below 1000 parts. I estimate one could render all official lego models using only 32Mb. Damien (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) I used to attempt Lgeo mania on my 32Meg Win95 machine, but could only manage a few dozen pieces before grinding the system into submission. (Ummm, not that the system submitted to actually rendering the picture, rather that it finally (...) (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: memory for LGEO

(...) I would like to point out a difference in thinking here. 64MB may be fast and good enough for rendering any complex/big model ALONE. That being just the model with a simple grey floor or the building instructions. Since I usely render my (...) (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) (URL) is an example of a scene that used LGEo parts and has other stuff in it. You can make it more complex by adding 'better' terrain using FORESETR or TERRAGEN to it. This one took 4 minutes to render. POV has has problem when it must figure (...) (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.ray)
