Greetings!
I've just secured arrangements with Lego Direct to exhibit LDraw at
the Kidvention in Legoland California this summer, from July 12-15.
This display will consist of: High quality posters of renderings done
using LDraw [1], information on LDraw, the .dat file format, and
utilities which use the format, a computer to demonstrate the
creation/rendering process, and possibly [2] being able to sell copies
of the LDraw CD-ROM there.
We'll be exhibiting (with the Greater Midwest Lego Train Club) on a
place called Vista U.S.A., which is a high point overlooking all of
Miniland and the rest of the park.
Quite a bit of planning still needs to go into this. If you consider
yourself an expert with LDraw, Povray, MLCAD, etc and can make it
there those dates, please email me! We could use a couple more people
to help out.
Also, if anyone in the Los Angeles or San Diego area has a computer
they can loan for use (preferably a fast laptop and large high-res
monitor setup) it would be much appreciated.
I'll be discussing the rest of my travel plans in the LA local group
sometime soon. Any comments, suggestions, etc. please feel free to
email me at tim@zacktron.com. I'll keep everyone posted as plans take
shape for this event.
[1] For the most part, the models are already selected.
[2] TLG hasn't given an answer on this yet.
