Thanks.  That's a good idea.  I'll have to think about it, though.  Up until
now, I have purposely avoided creating any LDView-specific meta-commands.  On
the other hand, this would be one of the few reasons that might convince me that
an LDView-specific meta-command would be a good idea.  (I'm generally against
program-specific meta-commands, except when they are absolutely necessary, and
even this instance might not be a strong enough case in the favor of an
LDView-specific meta-command.)

Additionally, this won't provide any added functionality to 99% of my users over
a check-box that causes LDView to override the default colors with its internal
ones, and only use ldconfig.ldr colors for colors it doesn't know about.  It
would allow the other 1% of my users to go in and modify the file, but I really
don't see many users doing that, especially when the file could change with each
LDView release.

(...) Well, I hope the final syntax for the color definition statement will allow some space for programs to support their own special syntactic needs. So you hopefully won't need a super-custom meta-statement for LDView, just a special flavor for (...) (21 years ago, 17-Jan-04, to lugnet.cad.dev)
