  Re: Java LDraw/LDLite

(...) Isn't there something you can do to have just *one* perl interpreter running, that does all the CGIing, instead of starting up all these processes? Jasper "can't imagine at what PID that server is by now" Janssen (26 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad)

  Re: Quality of authored parts

(...) <snip> (...) Rightly or wrongly, I am definitely an "as good as we can possibly make them" person. I'm sorry if this offends others. Chris (26 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Quality of authored parts

Re: Part Numbering Crisis in LDraw

(...) The problem with that solution is that we would then have the 4106548 hard coded as yellow. And when the tan version is released are we then going to have another 410xxxx for it - hard coded to tan? That may not seem like a big deal, until you (...)   Re: Java LDraw/LDLite

That would probably cut out the servlet possibility, then. There isn't a very good implementation of java for FreeBSD (no JIT), and I'm not sure about a Java Servlet implementation, either. (...) (26 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Part Numbering Crisis in LDraw

(...) Why (...) If I'm converting a physical model to Ldraw, its nice to be able to look at part, find its molded number, then add that number to my model. This of course only works for parts with numbers on them. This also argues for somehow (...) (26 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Java LDraw/LDLite

Re: Part Numbering Crisis in LDraw

At the risk of being flamed into lurk mode, I'm going to ask the following: Why do we need the official TLG part numbers? Why not just use a numbering system that makes sense? (26 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Quality of authored parts

John VanZwieten wrote in message ... (...) Thank you, John, you have boiled it all down to its component parts. I can think of no reason not to follow any of your points. That does include the "don't get personal" aside. Well done. Bravo Zulu Roy (26 years ago, 27-Feb-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LF vs. CRLF in server .DAT script

(...) Grrr, where is my brain today. I meant that I wrote print "$_\015\010"; when I meant to write print "$_\015\012"; I always get octal wrong, durnit.
