Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) Ok, so... that could also mean torii as well... again, the primitive generator and past spreadsheets do this the "old" way. I will have to look into that as well. (...) I believe you are correct. (...) I agree. Should I make this an option on (...) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, FTX)

Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) I think ideally this would be used on all segmented primitives that are circular and not flat (obviously it doesn't apply to primitives like disks and rings). So think that the same logic would apply to cones. Incidentally, I think the 1/8 (...) (21 years ago, 3-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, FTX)

Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) That's what I was afraid of... That is not how I handled it in the program. So, now this should apply for any segment files, right? 1-16,1-8,3-16,1-4,7-48, etc? If so, I will have to rethink how to calculate those points. now... this brings us (...) (21 years ago, 2-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, FTX)

Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) Ok... I'm a bit lost is all this mess. I need to know where we stand on this issue. I have a Primitive Generator program written with Visual Basic available for people to download and use. If I have handled this incorrecly, I need to know so I (...) (21 years ago, 2-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) I don't think the S curve problem goes away. The tangent control point works perfectly for two (same radius) curves that both curl in the same direction. It also works perfectly for a curve joining a flat edge along the tangent. However it (...) (21 years ago, 17-Aug-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) Is there a reason that the cylinder primitives haven't been updated to work like the sphere primitive? As long as there are type 5 lines on both ends of each partial cylinder, and the control point out in space is tangent to the cylinder (...)   Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

Re: Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.

(...) Ahh, the dreaded S-curve cylinder join rears it's ugly head again. I voted to ignore this a while back and gave my reasons. (URL) disagreed at the time. Don (21 years ago, 15-Aug-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Stud5 and type 5 lines at edge of cylinders.  [DAT]

I recently reworked the stud 5 primitive to make use of more quarter cylinders. I then noticed that when viewed there were edge lines apearing where they shouldn't. If you look at the primitive from various points you can see this occur. 0 Stud (...) (21 years ago, 15-Aug-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Torus Primitives on the Part Tracker

Hello, I have been updating some of the torus primitve files to use quads, and conditional lines instead of cylinder primitves. I have had too many problems getting the cylinder files to show without gaps. I have a new tool that can generate any (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Primitive part file reviewing on the Parts Tracker

Hello all parts authors, Here is a note to say that I have been studying Primitives in detail lately. I will be making some changes on the primitive reviews I have made recently. So some parts will probably come off the certified list until the (...) (21 years ago, 10-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Peghole BFC?

Hi all, While going through some of James' original parts, correcting for BFC (and occasionally making appropriate changes, since these came before the ring primitives), I noticed that he used the peghole DAT for making bottom studs (see the Brick 1 (...) (...) Yes - this is free, and I think it makes sense to group this with the "real" Technic connectors. We really _would_ like all new primitives to be BFC CERTIFIED, though. Where is this fake pin used? Chris (21 years ago, 15-May-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)
