Guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux —Jacob Sparre Andersen
I have put together a guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux: (URL) have only tested it on two different systems, so I would appreciate feedback on whether it works on other peoples systems and on how easy the guide is to understand. Play (...) (24 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) It's very nice, but I have a couple of comments: - On my RH 6.1 system, wget is not installed (maybe a link to the wget page would be good). - You don't need to download the MesaDemos package. Leonardo (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux —Don Heyse
(...) Actually wget is NOT a good idea. That sort of thing is what got me kicked off of geocities for a while and forced me to move the page to the sourceforge site. Unfortunately I can no longer seem to update my page at the sourceforge due to some (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

Don: [ (URL) ] (...) Could you make a "LDGLite source download" page with only the essential link then? (...) It looks like there are some benefits - besides security - to having disabled JavaScript. :-) (...) You could get space on the ldraw.org (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux —Don Heyse
(...) Not right now. HTML is not my strong point. Just look at my lame excuse for a web page. Plus this would make mirroring the site twice as much work for me. However, I finally got motivated to figure out a way to update the main site at (...) (24 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux —Jacob Sparre Andersen
Don: [ (URL) ] (...) I have updated the page with a suggestion to use your usual browser for downloading the files - and a link to wget. I have not had a chance to verify that the MesaDemos package isn't needed, so it is still included in the (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

Leonardo: [ (URL) ] (...) Thanks. (...) Wierd. - Well, now that I think of it, my new machine didn't come with wget either. (...) Ok. I just remember to have had problems compiling Mesa without the MesaDemos package. I will give it a try - if I can (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux —Don Heyse
(...) I just tried a fresh install on Mandrake 7.1. I'm fairly certain that you need MesaDemos because that includes GLUT which is required by ldglite. So I would leave that in the procedure. I had one problem installing on Mandrake. The "make (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Guide to installing and using LDGLite on Linux —Leonardo Zide
(...) This could be the reason, I have glut installed from the sources so I don't know. (...) For some reason Redhat doesn't have /usr/local/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf either. I couldn't think of a reason why it's not there. Leonardo (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

Don: (...) Ok. (...) I have added that step to the process. Thanks for the feedback. Play well, Jacob -- No .sig at the moment. (23 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)
