(...) are you using Steve Bliss' LDraw Add On??? specifially the MiniFig modeller allows for easy manipulation of .DAT minifigs. Makes it very easy to rotate any/all of their joints and the kinematic chain is kept intact automatically check it out (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Thanks, Jeff. I've got LDAO loaded, and I just now used the Mini-fig Modeller feature to create a DAT file. :-) Now I've got a _different_ problem. . . . :-/ The DAT file created by LDAO has a whole bunch of ROTATE and TRANSLATE comments in (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) right.. LDLite supports the new META command language.. but it was invented after LDraw... to convert the model to standard LDraw format you need to run LDLite on the model with the -R switch.. you have to do this at the DOS command line.. (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) OK... I tried this. It didn't work. :-( My existing file is called "A.DAT", and i'll call the new, LDraw-friendly file "B.DAT". From the MS-DOS prompt, I typed in: LDLITE -RB.DAT A.DAT and LDLite created a one-line file for B.DAT, shown here (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Open the minifig file in LDAO's Editor (not LEdit nor LDAO's Modeller). Notice that the ROTATE and TRANSLATE statements can be nested. Find a ROTATE or TRANSLATE which doesn't have any other ROTATE or TRANSLATE nested inside of it. So you're (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Argh! There are TRANSFORM commands in there? What was I thinking when I wrote the cursed utility? Hmm. Assuming the worst, you can highlight the lines inside the TRANSFORM ... TRANSFORM END commands, then click the "Subfile" button (along with (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)
