  Datsville Update

Truly impressive, John. One BIG suggestion. One thing that would keep load time down, would be to just do thumbnails of the older pictures, and have a page for old pictures. One thing that I don't like the looks of though, is that there is grass in (...) (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Datsville Update

(...) That's in the works, as well as the image maps. For you does the first picture download first, then subsequent? Or all at once? For me, anyway, I like the old pictures to be loading while I'm scrutinizing the newest one. (...) A known problem. (...) (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)

From Bram's pov file: #declare r_w=2800; // width of river heightfield #declare r_b=80; // height of river bank #declare r_d=240; // depth of river I'm not sure if 2800 is the width of the water or of the river+banks, but I imagine Bram could clue (...) (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Datsville Update

(...) Yeouch! Are those LDU's? The river's over 4 baseplates wide! Must be the Mississippi. Maybe I'll have to rethink this as a suspension bridge. Good thing it's not downtown, or there wouldn't *be* a downtown. (...) What about r_d? Is 240 the (...) (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Datsville Update

(...) Hmm. I may have to mess with that a bit. I want to go with something more like 30 studs across. Have you seen the new bridge they're building in London? It was in a recent edition of Popular Science. The deck of the bridge curves out over the (...) (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Datsville Update

(...) Do you have the name of the bridge and some ather things so I can do a search on the web? PopSci.com mentions the article, but doesn't have it online. The article summary said it opened like an eye. Ciao! (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad)
