  Getting a bad impression?

Hello, I am afraid I am getting a bad impression of the CAD list designers nowdays. I remember when one (a little person with no significance) could ask for help on a small piece and 9 times out of 10 there would be someone to whip up the piece. I (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Getting a bad impression?

(...) I think this may be a temporary slump due in part to at least one person who had repeatedly asked the group for things in a tone/manner which had been considered improper. That person's requests often elicited quick and sometimes harsh (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) ^^^^^^^^ I meant to say "grateful": It's not surprising that they're met with a bit of criticism if they appear ungrateful (even slightly). --Todd (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Getting a bad impression?

(...) I agree Todd with allot of what you are saying, But out of all the castle parts made the only ones I used (and I use allot mind you, heehee)are the ones from the original LDraw. This door would be something that someone other than the now (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Getting a bad impression?

There is another possibility to consider. Maybe the currently active part authors (such as me) do not have a copy of this part to work from. Also, I seem to recall that someone had finished this part, but it had size problems. Does anyone remember (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

I sent this message once, though haven't seen it come though to the list... checking if I see it this time :) I understand how you are feeling, I've wanted for that door for a while also.. though the problem is.. we've got 90% space freaks <take no (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Getting a bad impression?

(...) I wonder if that's because most of the people doing parts creation are mostly Technic and/or Space-focused. Hmm. JamesJ was a Trains and Technic guy? (...) Well, it probably really doesn't matter who he/she is/was anymore at this point; the (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Getting a bad impression?

I can understand Doyle's impatience, but I also am aware that making good LDraw parts is difficult. The tools available are not like mainstream 3D design tools. That could also be a contributing factor. As far as the Castle doors go, if John is (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) LDraw (...) I see you have a lot of patience in waiting for a part too. The thing is I am working on a project that is costing me about $4000.00 to $6000.00 and I can complete it without the door because the instructions for it are made layer (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)

Doyle Nelson wrote in message ... (...) This may just be me, but I'd make a mock-up of it and use that as a place-holder until I got the real part. Even just whatever hinge bits it has plus a plate in the middle would do, and it's a lot better than (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad)
