  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Unfortunately, I can only scan what I have in front of me, and I don't own any of those parts. Let me see what I can do with the minifig heads and then I'll post that as proof-of-concept. Then if you're interested maybe we can work something (...) (14 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) OK, I just picked up this magnet set: (URL) think it has the hair you wanted in it.. Is that the helmet you want too? I'll let you know how it goes. Again, I won't have time to do the scaling/trimming/LDU conversion/DAT conversion - I will (...) (14 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

Hi Darrell, How about some of the hair/accessories from the recent Lego Minifigure series? (URL) like the Cirus Clown's hair or the Caveman's hair would be very hard to model using normal methods. Being a Lego Star Wars fan I'd like to see the (...) (14 years ago, 16-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Hi all, I'm late to this party - I'm kind of languishing through another LEGO Dark Age.. We recently got a new desktop 3D scanner at my work. I am trying to learn how to use it, so I'd be up for doing some parts. The process of making the (...) (14 years ago, 15-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) The plus for primitives is that they don't have to be human readable. It's possible to develop a system which more than covers the full range without breaking 8 characters. For example we use up to four characters (eg. 3-16) for fractions (...) (14 years ago, 9-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) to make workarounds for the DOS enviroment. With primitives however, having to do so will become much more painfull and problematic. (14 years ago, 9-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) Most extreme will be this with a radius >100 e.g. 11-48120. You will never know if this is a ring or cone or whatever. (...) This should be practicable for existing parts when you are restricted to 8 characters (e.g. by using DOS - see the (...) (14 years ago, 7-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) Yes, maybe it's time to consider a total makeover of the LDraw language. If you do so, then don't forget to add support for pattern picture files too. /Tore (14 years ago, 5-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) Sidestep the issue. Extend the LDraw language by defining new line-types for curves, discs, spheres, cylinders, rings, cones and torii! :) Sorry, I'll go back to deep lurking mode now. Steve (14 years ago, 4-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

  Primitives and long file names

Now that long file names are allowed in LDraw and on Parts Tracker, what should we do with primitives for which name systematics gives filenames length > 8 characters? - Continue to cram everything in 8 characters nonetheless, eg. (URL) some (...) (14 years ago, 3-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Hi Reuben, (...) 4-4rin18 and 4-4rin19 are official files, released in 2010 (2010-01 and 2010-02). Since you missed at least 2 releases, I'd suggest you reinstall the complete LDraw library. (...)   4-4rin19.dat and 55981.dat

Hi all, I'm working on a model that includes the part 55981.dat. This references the sub-part 55981s01.dat.
