I've had a quick play and have a few thoughts
1: its a great idea
2: it seems to work with a couple of provisos.
2a: the dropdown colour choice box doesn't seem to scroll using the mouse
but does using the cursor keys
2b: I get missing parts files, is this
likely to be inadequacies in my Ldraw install or are they part numbers from
B-Link that either haven't been CADed or don't match the LDraw number scheme?
3: I'm not quite certain what the Original Sort, Popular Sort and Alpha Sort
options actually mean.
4: An option to write/rename your original parts.lst
file back within the app (reset to default button) would be good.
5: An option to force B-Link colour updates might be useful

I have to say I really like the All Real option.

All in all a really useful app

Tim

Tim,

Thank you for taking some time to let me know your thoughts.

2a) I'd also like the dropdown color menu to be scrollable with the mouse.  My
C++ skills (and my time) have not yet allowed this feature.

2b) The missing parts that you see in your CAD program are part files that you
don't have.  The color.lst files were generated on my machine that has all of
the Official and all of the UnOfficial part files.  The next time the program
updates a color file, it will compare it to your existing library of part files
and remove the ones that you don't have.

3) I really suggest that you take a look at the README.doc.  The Original Sort,
Sort by Piece Popularity, and the Alphabetical Sort options will change the
order of colors on the color palette in MLCAD.  You should note that the Popular
Sort and Alpha Sort have a bad side effect.  When / if these features are
incorporated into MLCAD, this side effect will not occur.

4) Selecting Virtual Color will force MLCAD (or you can use MAKELST.EXE) to
re-create a parts.lst of all of the parts in your library.  The program saves
your original parts.lst file as your_orig_parts.lst.

5) Yeah, hopefully when / if these features are put into MLCAD, we'll get this
option.  Otherwise, the program will update the file that you choose after it is
30 days old.

Thanks for your input,
Scott

(...) Fair enough (...) I don't have any unofficial parts (well I do but kept separately) so that explains that. I'm not certain what you mean when you say "The next time the program updates a color file", When you create it again using Color (...) (16 years ago, 6-May-08, to lugnet.cad)
