Re: New Project: DatShine, LDA, PreL3P, L3P, And POV Involved

(URL) just updated. So far, I've written 4 "chapters": * Brief Presentation and Preparations * Creating the Static Scene * Let There Be Light! * Let There Be Light, Part II Next step will be to improve colours using PreL3P. I don't know if it will (...) (19 years ago, 21-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

New Project: DatShine, LDA, PreL3P, L3P, And POV Involved

I have decided to set aside at least one hour a day to the project I just started today by writing this post. The three main goals are: 1. Create a short animation, using the tools mentioned in the subject line above. 2. Write a diary that explains (...) (19 years ago, 20-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Instruction Step Fading with PreL3P

I have posted an article (tutorial?) about using PreL3P for fading previous steps in instruction renderings: (URL) on some comments I infer that this effect may be old news to LPub/POV-Ray users, but I think it may still be of interest to some Mac (...) (19 years ago, 19-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

  PreL3P 1.3

I posted the new version of PreL3P today. The only addition, of course, is support for meta commands at any point in the model. (URL) commands at the beginning of the model are still "special" in that they override the default command line options. (...) (19 years ago, 18-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Previous step color scaling

All previous posts look promising! If you guys could use your precious time to write some Windows tools to do things like executing the script and stuff I can't wait to try it out! (19 years ago, 18-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Previous step color scaling

Here's a slightly tweaked version that seems to work OK with paths and filenames containing spaces: #! /bin/sh prevfile='' for thisfile in "$@"; do if "$prevfile" = "" ; then echo 0 !PREL3P -ldconfig normal.ldr > "faded.$thisfile" cat "$thisfile" >> (...)   Re: Previous step color scaling

(...) I tried the script out in Windows using cygwin, and it seems to work. Some observations: Until prel3p 1.3 is released by Jim, I can't be sure it works. The output is a mixture of DOS and Unix line endings. The files generated by MLCAD have DOS (...) (19 years ago, 17-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Updates to Sticker Generater

(URL) Thanks to everyone who provided constructive input on my Sticker Generator Software.   Re: Previous step color scaling

(...) If you have access to a *nix machine, or have installed the appropriate cygwin components on a Windows box, the following script should take a bunch of step files spit out from MLCad and insert the appropriate PREL3P commands in. #! /bin/sh (...)   Re: Previous step color scaling  [DAT]

(...) Correct. Technically, the prel3p commands affect color substitution on following lines, so you'll need to insert code in two places: once at the beginning of the model to use the "faded" colors, and again at whatever point you wish to restore (...) (19 years ago, 17-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Highly confused about Library Updates for MLCad

(...) Hello Christopher, I will not go into the same level of details as previous replies in this thread, but rather reply in a more general way. First of all, you make a mistake if you call it "Library Updates for MLCad". In one way, yes they are (...) (19 years ago, 17-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub error

(...) Hi Jaco, I don't see why not. How much RAM? I just got a bug report that greater than 1G of RAM on Vista caused problems. I don't have Vista, and don't plan on buying it for a *long* time. Kevin (19 years ago, 17-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Highly confused about Library Updates for MLCad

(...) Indeed, while opaque parts are made from ABS, thansparent ones use polycarbonate. These plastics have different behaviour that require slightly different molds to get the tight tolerances you appreciate from LEGO bricks... Philo (19 years ago, 17-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Previous step color scaling  [DAT]

(...) Thank you! I will eagerly await and try it. (...) MLCad is able to export every step, but it exports steps without information at which line the previous step ends and were the next step begins. For example when I export the CAR (still a great (...) (19 years ago, 16-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Highly confused about Library Updates for MLCad

(...) It is quite possible that one number is for transparent bricks and the other is for regular solid ABS. IIRC they are different molds. The LDraw parts library tries to be as inclusive as possible. Tim (19 years ago, 16-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Previous step color scaling

(...) Sure, you will be able to. I used a modified version of PreL3P, my little tool for replacing color codes. I'll post version 1.3 which will include this ability (loading different configurations partway through a model) soon, once I take care (...) (19 years ago, 16-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad)
