Hello,

I have a question about using stickers on LDraw models and rendering these in
PovRay (and other renderers). Stickers are 0.25 LDU thick, with the rear
(bottom) at y=0 and the front (top) at y=-0.25. When using a sticker it is lined
up with the rear attached to the bricks. The front is then 0.25 LDU away from
the brick surface.

When rendering with the default seam width of 0.5 the sticker disappears
(because the width of only 0.25 LDU). When I set the seam width to something
smaller, like 0.2, the sticker appears, but the seams are small or hardly
visible. Isn't it possible to somehow have the stickers not reduced in size when
applying seam widths? Maybe a new metacommand?

Lars should probably update L3P to not apply seams to objects that have any
dimension less than or equal to the seam width.  I added that feature to LDView
at some point for just such a problem.

Yes, this is clearly a bug. I've never used stickers, gotta try it.

I don't think a metacommand is appropriate when the problem can be solved
automatically, and a meta-command would require an L3P update just like the
automatic solution.

Well, avoiding the sticker disappearing can.
But simply not applying seams or only applying seams in any dimension wide enough
would leave the sticker floating above the part.

The only way to have the part and the sticker rendered correctly
is to group them, so they can be shrunk together.

While this could be accomplished with a new meta-command,
it can also be done today using MPD:
simply put the sticker and the part into a subfile
and make sure the file type is "part" ("0 Unofficial part").

PS. Unfortunately the current L3P doesn't recognize "0 Unofficial part"
so you must put the subfile into the PARTS directory to have it considered a part
for still a little while...
