OK. This is fairly bizarre.  I'm assuming you've gone through all the
regular stuff -- running ScanDisk, checking for free harddrive space,
closing all other programs.

Is any file created in the ldraw\bitmaps or ldraw\vec directories?

Oh, is the message coming from LDAO or LDLite? I'm guessing it's from
LDLite.

Just for grins, you could try selecting the 'run from batch file' option
for the catalog tool in Tool Manager.  It should have absolutely no
effect, but it is the way I had my system set.

Before clicking OK, take a look at the contents of the ~vec*.dat
file(s).  It sounds like they are getting some garbage.

Also, check the ldraw.ini file, the section [Catalog Tool] section
should look something like this:

[Catalog Tool]
Internal=False
RequiresFile=False
RunInBAT=False
NeedsShortName=False
MenuCaption=Render
ButtonCaption=Render
ToolText=Rendering program for VEC
CommandLine=%base%\ldlite\ldlite.exe %model% %parm%
WorkingDirectory=%base%

My ldraw.ini looks okay.
In the ~vec*.dat file (there's only one) I see this text:

etc.  I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
By the way, I've re-extracted all the ldraw source files and rerun makelist
both from the ldraw dist. and the one with LDAO.  Same result.

Thanks,
Ben

Tried the batch file option. No change. Hmm...the message *is* coming from LDLite, hadn't noticed that before. I'll look into that. Ben (...) (26 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)
