problem with LDAO and VEC generation... —Ben Vaughan
Steve, or whoever may have a suggestion 8) I recently rebuilt my machine and have reinstalled all my LDRAW files (LDAO, ldlite, ldraw, l3p, etc.). I setup LDAO to use LDLite and it works just fine, but I also setup the Catalog Tool to use LDLite (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Before clicking OK, take a look at the contents of the ~vec*.dat file(s). It sounds like they are getting some garbage. Also, check the ldraw.ini file, the section [Catalog Tool] section should look something like this: [Catalog Tool] (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)

Re: problem with LDAO and VEC generation... —Ben Vaughan
     (...) My ldraw.ini looks okay. In the ~vec*.dat file (there's only one) I see this text: 0 Visual Element Catalog image generator 0 CLEAR 1 16 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 3005-2.DAT 0 STEP 0 CLEAR 1 16 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 3005-3.DAT 0 STEP 0 CLEAR 1 (...)       OK. This is fairly bizarre. I'm assuming you've gone through all the regular stuff -- running ScanDisk, checking for free harddrive space, closing all other programs. Is any file created in the ldraw\bitmaps or ldraw\vec directories? Oh, is the (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)

Tried the batch file option. No change. Hmm...the message *is* coming from LDLite, hadn't noticed that before. I'll look into that. Ben (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)

Hey! I just removed the %parm portion from the command line of the catalog tool setup and LDLite didnt' puke! However, I have to click on each image before it will render the next one. Hmm...seems like I'm getting closer. Thoughts? Ben (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)

Re: problem with LDAO and VEC generation... —Steve Bliss
(...) My first thought is, did you remove a %parm or a %parm%? It makes just a bit of a difference. But I'm assuming it was a %parm%, and you just had a slight typo here. But it seems like LDLite is getting some parameter it doesn't like. There (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)

ACK! I'm 90% certain the problem is due to an LDLite bug. LDLite 1.5 was supposed to use the ldraw.ini file for pathnames, but mistakenly still uses the LDRAWDIR environment variable in two cases: the load of the file specified on the command line, (...)    Well, it's to bad that LDLite has this bug, but I'm not really upset. Actually, I'm just glad to know it's not something silly (read stupid) that I was or wasn't doing. I'll look forward to version 1.6. 8) Ben (...) fine, (...) generate (...) an (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad)
