(...) Dear LSC, I examined the LDraw website and was unable to find formalization for the support of optional part paths. I'm updating LPub and would like to include support for this concept of alternate paths for LDraw parts. The PRE and POST (...) (17 years ago, 9-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Optional Lines Calculator utility

I know host (URL) OLC>, a neat program written by Richard Baxter which calculates conditional lines of a LDraw file. I have also made some minor improvements to my own (URL) Isecalc> and (URL) Linetrim>. Enjoy, Philo (17 years ago, 6-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Paging Tim Gould, Paging Tim Gould....

(...) John, I am in no way a POV-Ray expert (I'm pretty much a novice) but I have done it on a Mac. The tools I use after putting together the model using ldglite or MacBrickCAD or Bricksmith are the Mac OS X version of L3P, POV-Ray 3.6, and (...) Hi again, here is the result of the newly rendered minifig heads: (URL) I think they look much better than the original heads. Greetings Sven (17 years ago, 3-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: Paging Tim Gould, Paging Tim Gould....

(...) Hmmmmm... do I give my secrets away or not? ;) In truth I don't think my renderings are close to the nicest but they are very cheap in terms of time for a fairly high reward (or at least one I like). Unfortunately right now is not a good time (...) (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: realistic minifig heads with ldraw and povray?

(...) Actually, since this a fairly minor rule I was thinking more along the lines of an article entitled Generic Rules for Official Library Part Files but this will do for now. -Orion - (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Paging Tim Gould, Paging Tim Gould....

I'd really appreciate your help, Tim. As you now know, I'm a Mac person and so I never got into MLCAD, and haven't really explored Bricksmith too much. Ross, however, has puttered in MLCAD, and can create models fine (although he needs to learn (...) (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Change to existing policy on embedding POV-Ray code in Official Files

(...) Hello All, First I am no part designer but reading through this discussion I got an idea that might be interesting to share. First I think Orion is right with his stand to not allow povcode because of the 'why only pov-ray' argument. So I was (...) (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: realistic minifig heads with ldraw and povray?

Hi guys, thank you very much for so many good answers in a very short time. I found Anton Raves converter page yesterday. In the end the converted data was useless for me and his documentation is unreadable on a Windows PC :-( As so many others Lutz (...) (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Change to existing policy on embedding POV-Ray code in Official Files

(...) Since I've contributed exactly two official parts to the LDraw library (neither of them with inlined POV-Ray code), I'm sure that my opinion carries more weight than anyone's on the subject... :) For some time it has been argued that the use (...) (17 years ago, 2-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Change to existing policy on embedding POV-Ray code in Official Files

(...) I'd _like_ to see a meta-language for basic shapes defined in their primitives (the current naming system would be fine if it was consistent) as that could be used in converter software of all hues. I also realise this isn't likely to happen (...) (17 years ago, 1-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Change to existing policy on embedding POV-Ray code in Official Files

(...) At the risk of reigniting this argument, I still hold to the original reasons for disallowing EmPOV: - The POV-RAY SDL is not under the control of the LSC. This means that if the POV-Ray Team decides to depreciate a command (which they have (...) (17 years ago, 1-Jul-07, to lugnet.cad.dev)
