  LSC: Call for Nominations

It has been a year since the last election of the LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC). Nominations are now open, elections will be held July 26. The LDraw.org Standards Committee (LSC) is responsible for maintaining semi-regular internal discussions (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX) !

Post for David Winkler... The Stanford Bunny!!

Hello All! Hey Check this out!! I'm posting for David V. Winkler, a quiet but very talented builder in SEALUG. Be sure to check out all the other stuff he's got in the brickshelf folder if you haven't already seen it! Cheers! (URL) classic 3d test (...)   Re: Version 513 of my Library is available now.

(...) You can make that version 515 now, 21 new pieces have been added, and a few changes to existing ones. Among the new pieces are those that are needed to build a 7256 Jedi Starfighter and new windscreens usable for trains. Greetz, Anton (19 years ago, 10-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.cad)

Re: Increasing POV resolution from L3PAO

(...) Thanks a lot. (19 years ago, 9-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Increasing POV resolution from L3PAO

(...) Hi Edwin, Another option is to run povray with the command line switches (at the command line or in the box) +W2560 +H1280 +UA. There may be a way to set this in L3pAO but I've never used it so couldn't say for sure. Hope this helps, Tim (19 years ago, 9-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Increasing POV resolution from L3PAO

Hello Edwin, I'm no Povray expert, but do know the answer to this: (make sure you are using version 3.6 of PovRay) select top-menu 'Render' select item 'Edit settings/render' in the INI File section, where it says 'quickres.ini' press the 'edit' (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Increasing POV resolution from L3PAO

I'm in a Lego CAD class at the moment. One of my students built a large army of Samurai Minifigs about 20 across and 8 deep. He rendered it via POV to a 640x480 (as defined in L3PAO). We tried to increase resolution with a render size up to 4 times (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.0 RC 1 Released ***

(...) Thanks for that piece of info. It could make tracking down the source of the problem easier. --Travis Cobbs (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.0 RC 1 Released ***

(...) Thanks for the report. I actually kind of see it as good news. It validates my use of a public release candidate instead of just going ahead and releasing the official 3.0. There's just so much going on inside the program, that bugs like these (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.0 RC 1 Released ***

(...) It appears to be a new bug as it wasn't a problem in Beta 1. (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.0 RC 1 Released ***

(...) I get the same thing. I also tryed commenting out all the other parts except the offending part and got the same results -Orion (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.0 RC 1 Released ***

(...) Hi Travis, The following MPD file should display a yellow guy and a black guy, but the black guy has a yellow arm: (URL) to me it's a color bug in LDView, other programs behave like expected. Sorry for the bad news, damien (19 years ago, 8-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: *** LDView Version 3.0 RC 1 Released ***

Your program is always getting better! There's just one thing I wanted to bring to your attention: if you haven't noticed, the "isometric" camera view isn't actually rendering things in isometric perspective. I think you're confusing isometric (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Seemingly insane poly counts in official games - how?

I am wondering whether you could do this: Pass a plane through a model along the X axis. Keep track of which polys intersect the plane. If these intersections then intersect with each other, they will form 2D shapes on the plane. If any of these (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LPub 2.4.7 available & LDiff comment

--SNIP-- (...) Thanks for that Kevin. Could you turn piece packing off and use bounding box packing for the PACK SUBS (does it have an underscore? my documentation doesn't seem to say so) routine perhaps? Or have an option to use the old packing (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LPub 2.4.7 available

(...) With the new technique of figuring out how much part images can overlap each other (tighter packing algorithm), PACK SUBS is not invoked, if there is overlap. Currently, the overlap detection process only has to check the the previous part (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jul-05, to lugnet.cad)
