Re: Questions: 12 volt train track parts

(...) It seems to me that this is where we draw the line between ray tracing parts and ldraw parts. Extra details and rounded edges belong on the ray tracing versions of the parts, but not on the ldraw parts. Ldraw parts should render quickly (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: portable version of mklist?

(...) Ok, I tried to recreate the changes for 1.3 based on the message strings contained in the executable. The -i and -o commands work for both windows and linux, but I couldn't tell what else may have changed or been fixed for 1.3. You can try the (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: portable version of mklist?

(...) I asked Lars to add -i and -o functionality to mklist (so I could index various directories of part and primitive files). He sent along the EXE, but not the source. When LDraw 0.27 was being finished up, I included in the 1.3 mklist.exe. I (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Questions: 12 volt train track parts

(...) What is the radius of the curved edges? On such a large part, anything below radius 2 or 1 would not really be visible in most cases. It would be nice if we could specify the part with sharp edge-lines for normal viewing, and rounded edges for (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) It seemed to be going along well, so I left it overnight. However this morning it appeared to have stopped. The clock on POV-RAY was still running, but the PPS rate was 0. :( (...)   Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) <snipped> (...) Hi Allan, First of all, please do use the radio_2 settings. Radio_3 uses extreme high radiosity settings and radio_2 is a bit more CPU-friendly. Changes are that you'll get some artifacts (strange dark patches) but then, (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Well, just to warn you.. This picture: (URL) Took this long to render: (URL) On rad level 3 with a P4 2.0 GHz with 1MB of DDR333 RAM.   Re: Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

(...) I grabbed those files. I started it again with radio-3.inc and only a couple of my original lights. The radio file seems to include an ambient light setting, but by itself this still seemed a bit dark. I also commented out the line that (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: LDraw-to-Raves (was: POV in Part)

(...) Hmm, that would be true - if the wrappers use the same names as L3P generates (so the object for the 2x4 brick would be named 3001_dot_dat). Right now, they don't - the names are like ar_3001. Even so, changing '3001_dot_dat' to (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Can anyone help by suggesting some lighting tips?

I've been working at rendering a more realistic version of my little 4-wide fire engine. I've gotten it to look much better than my first attempts, which did not use radiosity and were quite cartoonish. So... here's where I'm at so far: (URL) think (...)   Re: Feature Suggestion

(...) Well, that was my suggestion about: placing the parts (like a windowframe and it's panes and shutters) without having to move the panes and shutters to their positions by hand. Niels (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: Feature Suggestion

Hello Niels Place the parts in your model as you like. Then select all desired parts holding the control-key down. Then move the selection arround. When using Control-D the selected parts are duplicated all on te same position and you can place all (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: portable version of mklist?

(...) A quick check reveals the source I used was from mklist.c v1.2 That's the one included in the zip file inside ldraw027.exe and complete.exe. Oddly, I noticed that ldraw027.exe includes the v1.3 executable with the -i and -o options, but the (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: MBC 0.6.1 comments

(...) Actually, I'd prefer it if you just make a separate .sit (or zip) file with source and put it in the same folder on the internet as the executable program. That way anybody can look at it. You never know when someone might come from nowhere (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)
