(...) Isn't this a matther of the installed operating system? I'm no PC expert, but i think that the clusters on a Windows 98 and a NT system are different, isn't it (FAT,FAT32,NTFS)? If you think that INLINING is a better solution, how can this be (...) (23 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

(...) For a quick custom, you can use BMP2DAT32 (if I remember the name right). It comes out with mediocre quality (usually), but it's easier than redrawing your graphic in LDraw vector commands. Steve (23 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Why not 8 subparts? There are 8 symmetric sections in this part. If you're going to use subfiles to reduce the overall datasize, go all the way. :) Unfortunately, cutting out a 1/8 slice of the part might force some unnatural cuts. If this is (...) (...) That's been my view as well. In addition, is disk space usage really a factor? I mean, I have a small (3 gig) hard drive, and my whole LDraw file set takes up only a couple megs. (...) Right, but what I want to say is that if the filesize is to big the file needs a lot of time to render. When this is splitted into subfiles the renderer only needs to read smaller subfile. This saves rendertime. Bernd (23 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
