  Re: DAT to AutoCAD?

(...) There exist a STL to DAT converter. As Autocad can output STL files, you can use it to produce part very quickly. I have used it to produce many part with Solidworks that also has a STL output. Check my page : (URL) for the STL to DAT (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Make-your-own differential  [DAT]

Here is an idea for a giant differential. I don't know what it is good for, but it works well. I do use gears. It uses a turntable popped apart and put together flipped, with 4 stud beams between the two parts. It uses 2 24t crowns and 2 24t spur (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New Part - 3837 Minifig Shovel

(...) Thanks! :-) (...) You can mention it, I knew this would be the case. I was trying for a quick and easy part. (...) Think so? I'm not going to worry about it too much for now. If it does happen, I or someone can "fix" it then. (...) I like (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part - 3837 Minifig Shovel

(...) Thanks! If I actually put the "edge" line in after I had returned the part to the parts box. I looked at the shovel again and I agree, it really shouldn't be there. I will remove it and make any other changes needed then I will post it again (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part - 4790 Ship's Wheel (Pirate ship steering wheel)

(...) Thanks! (...) I thought about this, then I got the great idea that since it had a stud, I would treat it like a plate or brick part... then I never thought about it again. It wouldn't be too hard to change, Just would need to study and check (...) (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: next parts update ----> *when* ???

(...) A couple of us mentioned talking to Steve and sharing the load of the parts update process for the 400 or so parts that are in the pipeline, because that's a very daunting task. More later, when we've discussed updates more. -Tim (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: next parts update ----> *when* ???

(...) Will parts in the pipeline (already sent to Steve at partsref@home.com) be included, or should I resend these to partsref@ldraw.org ? Any chance of an update of what is in the pipeline, just to make sure you have everying from my "out-box"? (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Where does a parts author go next?

(...) If that's your first part then it's a good idea to post it there for reviews and comments. After you think it's ready to be official, send it to partsref@ldraw.org. Leonardo (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: LCAD for Risc-OS (was LCAD/LDraw.org Formal Organization)

(...) If you feel really brave, you could try to compile LeoCAD under RO. You'll need to have GTK installed and some other libraries but a guy was able to use it under on an Alpha so I think there's a chance you can get a complete editor for your (...)   Where does a parts author go next?

I have just finished making Tile 1 x 2 with Ice Planet Controls Pattern and I need to know what I do with it now. Do I send the file to lugnet.cad.dat.parts for review? Thanks, --Ryan E-mail: ryanjf@ifriendly.com Website: (URL) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Concerning first meeting of the LDraw group...

(...) I'm too tired to write a complete list of the subjects discussed now (10 hours flight from NY) but we basically talked about a license for the parts and how the LDraw.org organization will be formed. Leonardo (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: next parts update ----> *when* ???

(...) There won't be any more part updates as they were done previously, the basic idea is to be able to run a program that will check for new parts and download them automatically and have the complete.exe package updated at a fixed time interval.   Re: New Part - 4790 Ship's Wheel (Pirate ship steering wheel)

Great work! I'd say the part should be oriented differently, though. There is a long tradition of having round, wheel-like things oriented with the axle hole (or whatever) in the z-direction. I'd also say that the centre of the part should be in the (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
