Re: Special tools used to build/design parts?

(...) I remember hearing about that. But it's not a big deal, as what I mean is that I can model the shapes to be accurate, in terms of having the proper curves, blends, etc on some of the more complicated parts. I can make it all fit to whatever (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Special tools used to build/design parts?

(...) Hey, this could work! I can spit .STLs outta Pro/E no-problemo. I do it all the time at work. For Steve, I believe the "STL" stands for "stereolithography". We generate these files at work and feed them into a stereolithography machine. It (...) (24 years ago, 22-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Interesting Minutia in 7146 Instructions

I bet they use one of them multimillion dollar programs. The backgrounds on the old technic sets look a lot like they were autocad drawings. But it would make sense for them to just use the same data they have from the molds for the plastic as (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 973p30.dat, "Minifig Torso - Pirate/Bare-Chested/Vest/Tatoo"

Re: help!! what color code is "burgundy"?

(...) OK, I've checked these colors using MLCAD and L3Lab, and I believe that color code "261" is the best choice. I'll be sending the revised DAT file in just a second. Thanks, again. :-) Franklin (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  My mail is down

Yes, I know it's an off-topic announcement, but yet I think it fits in here. My ISP's mail server is down and will be down at least until tomorrow, Friday. Very urgent messages can be sent to my work tore.erikssonATflextronics.se -- Tore Eriksson (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: re-name "patterned" parts?...

(...) Good point. I've only dealt with one part, so far, that this became an issue with: the (Minifig) Witch's Cauldron. But that one measured at "1/2" (inn between the plates for "1/3" and "2/3"), so I just used decimals (i.e., ".5"). If it had (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  MLCAD ideas for part authoring

I have a suggestion for making MLCAD more useful for part authoring. It would be cool if there were a special mode for part authoring. While in this mode, instead of the part lists to the left, you would have primitive and subfile lists. The same (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: DAT file for 'Adventurer' wheel

Hi, Fredrik, Did you ever submit this part to Steve for inclusion into the next parts update? Would you mind registering this part with Tore (so it will be listed in his parts tracker)? Thanks, Franklin (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Special tools used to build/design parts?

Re: DAT file for 'Adventurer' wheel

I've made a simple version of the wheel. It's in a Willys Jeep model posted on lugnet.cad.dat.models, but without the search function, it's pretty hard to find. In the mean time, you can grab it from the DAT file included in this URL: (URL) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: DAT file for 'Adventurer' wheel

(...) Hi Guys! I believe the wheel you are talking about has been done by Fredrik Glöckner. I have it on my system as "spoked.dat" titled "Wheel Spoked Small". We have a few more newer primitives now that might make for a better rendered version. (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Special tools used to build/design parts?

(...) The latest version of L3P does support POV commands that can replace the .DAT commands to give nice smooth curved surfaces while ray-tracing. Look here for examples: (URL) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
