(...) As far as I know, the sphere is incorrectly tesselated in Ldraw, because it has non-planar quads. So if there is ever going to be a matematical tesselation, which aproaches this form, it won't surelly be a sphere, more like "spheroid", similar (...) (24 years ago, 11-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

I don't know how to get different lighting in PovRay. I tried the light.dat files in my models but I only seem to get the standard lighting made by L3P. I created this model in MLCad pretty quickly but it's really good. One of my best Dat files ever. It is a neat little white submarine that started out as a luxury yacht.
