  Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

Hi all, With all of the 'gray storm clouds' being discussed on LUGNET this week, I fear this MOC announcement may get lost in the brouhaha. But the final pieces arrved from Germany in an amazingly short time (5 days!), so I went ahead and finished (...) (...) the midst of so much anguished wailing and gnashing of teeth* let me be one of the first to express my amazement at your latest project.   Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) That's very cool Eric. And great solution to coming up with a 1000 or so different patterns from so few LEGO tiles. I don't know if I could have sat there and put it together correctly, I'm guessing that putting the tiles in the proper (...) (21 years ago, 19-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) Fabulous! I remember having discussions with you about this at Brickfest this year and thinking you were truly insane to undertake such a project. The result looks great! Now to get this spotlighted so that it pushes to the top of the list and (...) (21 years ago, 19-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

(...) Eric, once again you've shown us a unique use for LEGO (and Java code! *grin*). Your gift for seeing possibilities in the LEGO medium is something that most of us just don't have. Keep up the great work! JohnG, GMLTC (21 years ago, 19-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

Very Cool What I find interesting was that most of the tiles are fairly similar in colour, especially the base (ABS) colours, being mainly white, grey and and black and yet the program has identified the ones to use to get the right colours on the (...)   Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

If I remember correctly, I set the program so that there would be no repeats of the 2x2 tile combinations. However, since I modified by hand somewhat after the program ran, there may be some duplicated configurations. Yes, I cleared out a (...) (21 years ago, 20-Nov-03, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

(...) Never fear Eric, your work can always stand above the tide. Good job again! Eric, You do an amazing job working on expanding the possibilities of Lego with regards to sculpture and mosaics. This is another great example of that.   Re: Printed (Decorated) Tile Mosaic

(...) What a great idea! You could mount white 1x1 tiles on large baseplates and leave them out in the sun. After a period, remove some. I wonder how many shades you could actually get?
