If I remember correctly, I set the program so that there would be no
repeats of the 2x2 tile combinations. However, since I modified by hand
somewhat after the program ran, there may be some duplicated configurations.

Yes, I cleared out a tremendous amount of printed tiles from
Bricklink... though I'll probably always collect more in case I ever get
it in my head to do another such mosaic (though likely only on commission).

It was very difficult trying to get a feel for which tiles would be most
easily obtained for (relatively) cheap amounts.

Basically, I would do some orders solely for tiles, but then whenever
I'd do a BL order for any pieces at all, I'd check to see if the buyer
had any tiles I currently needed.

cheers,

eric

Very Cool
What I find interesting was that most of the tiles are fairly similar in colour,
especially the base (ABS) colours, being mainly white, grey and and black and
yet the program has identified the ones to use to get the right colours on the
mosiac. You can see that there is not much availalable with a blue overall hue
by the fact that it used so many (goes to find part ref on Bricklink, can't find
it for sale cos Eric's bought them all! Then realises going about it the wrong
way) <http://www.bricklink.com/PL/3069px11.jpg Tile, Decorated 1 x 2 with
Underwater Navigation Pattern> down the right hand side. You say there are over
18000 combinations, do you know if there are any that are actually repeated in
the finished mosiac?

Be strange for the girl in question if one day she was browsing the net and
found your site!

Tim
