  creation of man mosaic colors

hello lego fans and fanatic. my names phil stevens, a newby to mosaics and lugnet. I discovered lugnet part way through designing a lego mosaic of michaelangelo's "creation of man" and I must say I'm excited; lugnet is amazing. being my first (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Grayscale Mosaics

(...) I guess we do need a good definition. :) In this image: (URL) The far left has NO dithering, the middle has the FS dithering (many programs do this), and the right is mine. (...) (snip) I use several different techniques but that is the heart (...) (21 years ago, 9-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

  Re: Grayscale Mosaics

(...) Maybe -first of all- we need a good definition of "dithering": Your left image shows no dithering at all. I see a similar conversion method as the one I used on the mosaic of (URL) my children>. I simply divide the total image in X fields of (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

  Re: Grayscale Mosaics

Maarten, My mosaics are more than just a dithering of the 5 grayscale lego colors. In MLCAD, using a dithering of the 5 colors, I create a palette of 9 colors that I feel tricks the eye into seeing more shades, and therefore a clearer image. Here's (...)   Re: First Mosaic - Joker

(...) Don't start glueing yet. You may have seen how my (URL) 42 mosaic> is hung. My mosaic is really hanging (it doesn't fall apart thanks to the frame), so I can easily lift it off the "hooks" and take it with me. If you have no intention at all (...)   Re: Grayscale Mosaics

To create my (URL) Level 42 mosaic> I used the Floyd-Steinberg dithering algorythm: This algorythm was originally written to convert images to black & white (NO grayscale) to reduce filesize. I used this very same algorythm in a 3-dimensional space: (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

Re: Grayscale Mosaics NEW & IMPROVED!

Darn, I thought the great EH was going to comment on my mosaics. Alas. ;) I've been tinkering with my technique and I think my latest one VASTLY outdoes my others. I think I'll delete all the ones I've done so far and start over. :) Here are some (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

  Re: Grayscale Mosaics

Heh, normally I keep quiet when Pixelego gets mentioned and such, but given that one of the sample images from the original post was of Winona Ryder (and one of my favorite WR pics, at that), I felt I'd throw out a few samples from Pixelego for (...)   Re: Grayscale Mosaics

(...) Isn't that just using the "studs-up" technique instead of "studs forward"? IIRC I think the Lugnet Mosaic Maker does that too-- unless maybe you're talking about a more advanced dithering algorithm? IIRC Eric Harshbarger's PixeLego program had (...)   Grayscale Mosaics

A year ago I saw the large Mona Lisa LEGO mosaic in person. I really wanted to be able to create something like that... without printing out an image and creating a LEGO mosaic pixel for stud. I was just never satisfied with computer programs that (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

I love it! The design and colors are perfect, and the build looks great. I'd love to see pics of it when it's on the wall. -Elroy (22 years ago, 31-Dec-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)
