Isnt that just using the studs-up technique instead of studs forward? IIRC
I think the Lugnet Mosaic Maker does that too-- unless maybe youre talking
about a more advanced dithering algorithm? IIRC Eric Harshbargers PixeLego
program had some dither techniques that were a bit better than Lugnets (That is
to say I remember Todd being impressed by them), if only PixeLego was still
around :) Ive never actually looked at dither algs myself, but Id certainly
be interested hearing more!

| Heh, normally I keep quiet when Pixelego gets mentioned and such, but given that one of the sample images from the original post was of Winona Ryder (and one of my favorite WR pics, at that), I felt I'd throw out a few samples from Pixelego for (...) (20 years ago, 4-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

| A year ago I saw the large Mona Lisa LEGO mosaic in person. I really wanted to be able to create something like that... without printing out an image and creating a LEGO mosaic pixel for stud.
