hello lego fans and fanatic.  my names phil stevens, a newby to mosaics and
lugnet.  I discovered lugnet part way through designing a lego mosaic of
michaelangelo's "creation of man" and I must say I'm excited; lugnet is amazing.
being my first mosaic, I don't really know what I'm doing and would appreciate
some help.

the project:  I used photoshop 6.0 and a picture online to make a design for a
136 X 88 studs-facing-you mosaic.  I cropped and corrected the resolution to
make each pixel represent a 1 X 1 plate.  I have an excel file with the
hexidecimal lego colors and was going to go through each pixel and change the
color to the closest corresponding lego color but I figured there must be an
easier way.

the problems/obstacles: in short I don't know what colors to use.  I would like
the resolution as good as possible and have seen on lugnet some surprisingly
good results using only 8 colors.  my image uses 64 colors; I would like to use
18 or 24 i nthe finished product.
I found the "mosaic maker" on lugnet but, bescause my image isn't posted on the
web and I don't know how to post it, haven't been able to use it in that
program.  I found several others images online and tried them in the mosaic
maker but wasn't satisfied with the results.  I need some help from all you
wiser and more experienced lego mosaic-ers!

ps.  I also don't know how to post pictures or links on lugnet nor how to
navigate lugnet very well to find specific forums, etc.  any pointers pointers
on that would be great too!

thanks a bunch,
phil

(...) Welcome to LUGNET, Phil! You need to go to (URL) Brickshelf> and set up your own account to which you will be able to upload pictures. From there you can link to the images here on LUGNET.
