I trade heads and torsos all the time. In fact my Tie-Fighter storm trooper now sport a Luke Skywalker head. As well as many others. mike broam out (...) (24 years ago, 18-Mar-01, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.pirates)

It's probably more a matter of taste and expediency. For example, I've changed the heads on all of my bearded warrant officers for smileys, to turn them into privates. I have a couple of questions the more informed members may know about. Do builders exchange the smiley face heads from one torso to another?
