Hmm--now I'm confused.  When I looked yesterday, the image seemed strangely
dark and difficult to see clearly.  Now it's still darkish, but I can see it
pretty well.  I suspect some sort of elaborate plot to keep me from viewing
your images...>>You mean MegaBloks, right?  8^)

No.  As with Friedrich der Grosse, the entire vessel will be 100%
LEGO. Megabricks = 8x16 dark grey bricks.  I estimate that I need
about 135 total for the hull base--

Ah.  I read "mega" and thought "1 Million." That would be a mighty big boat.
Even so, 135 is no small number.

I'm not planning at this stage
to use baseplates, because I want the ship to open lengthwise as
well as in sections.  I'm not sure what the ultimate result in terms
of hull stability will be, however.

Interestingly, I'm sure I read somewhere that the real ships opened that
way, too.   8^)

Thanks for the feedback muchly--I'll see about image tweaking once
I know what it is you want.

I look forward to seeing the whole thing!  The biggest boat I've (partially)
built so far was a generic Great-Lakes-freighter-ish sort of thing about 140
studs long and 48 wide.  Didn't finish it, but it was more of an experiment
than a full-fledged project in any case.  What can the future hold, I wonder...?

(...) Wait, is it too bright, or too dim? I'm a bit confused as to what you're asking me. But yeah, I've thought about the sheet styrene angle, and I decided against it--I'm a purist at heart. It's hard enough for me to even cut the straws, though (...) (23 years ago, 15-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)
