One VERY simple thing you can try is to attach 1x4 plates to the treads.  I've seen
people use every other, or every third or forth.  They should clip right on, using
the holes in the tread for the pins under the 1x4.

Hello, I have been interested in incorporating Technic features (especially motors), in minifig scaled MOCs, and am finally on my first major project.
