In e-mail, LFB wrote (and I beg LFB's approval, as this is reprinted here without express written consent, although I am willing to suffer any and all appropriate consequences for this breach of etiquette): (...)   SNOT boating (was: Re: USS Fletcher for public display)

(...) I've (...) So, wait--you're building ribs and plating between them? I feel for you--that seems like it would be really difficult in brick. I had to build square and then plate the outside contours. My heart goes out to you! However, if it's (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Fletcher for public display

(...) Hey, that reminds me ... Actually, I've been working on frame-by-frame construction for my S-boat. I've completed the 20 main ribs, and am in the process of flushing out the contours between them. It's actually pretty satisfying, given that (...) (...) Lego Shop at Home for grey brick. OK not very cheap but they are available. Starwars models for other grey and dark grey parts. I always look for bargain prices. Mattias (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: P-40 Warhawk [revisited]

(...) I see. I believe that the actual P-40's engine did not turn, though. The rotary engines where the entire engine turned were common in WWI, but not WWII. It would be tricky to get the same visual design without having the engine rotate though. (...) (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Fletcher for public display

(...) Where did you get so many grey pieces? I have a fair number of grey plates (from Classic Space sets), but few bricks. --Bill. (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Fletcher for public display

(...) Thank you Bill, I am glad you like. One good thing about modeling warships is there so are so many originals of different sizes suitable for small and large collections of grey pieces. Mattias (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: P-40 Warhawk [revisited]

(...) The entire piece is mounted upon a 2x1 brick with a hole in it. I got a four bump long pin in there, holding the cylinder, the propellor, and the spinner, so yes, it does indeed turn. ~Drew (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Fletcher for public display

(...) Very sleek and powerful looking. You really captured the essense of the original, I think. --Bill. (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: P-40 Warhawk [revisited]

(...) Very nifty! I like the way you did the engine (does the 4x4 cylinder piece turn?), and I love the gun sight in front of the cockpit. --Bill. (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Fletcher for public display

(...) Thank you Lindsay for taking kind interest in my model. To hear experienced Logo fans comment on your creations is always something extra. I agree that the forward hull is a weak part of my model. I will try to rebuild it either by SNOT and (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  P-40 Warhawk [revisited]

I come to you with my P-40 Warhawk MK II. I made some minor changes to details, rebuilt the tail fins, and most importantly, I have decently sized pictures of the model. The images should load MUCH faster for you DSL users. The 500 lb. bomb on the (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Two new WW2 Tank MOC's

Brown wheels on the Tiger? Now that's good idea! Most of my brown wheels went out in Blacksmith Shops and Windmill kits, but I suppose I could seek out some more. Both tanks are actually working prototypes for a new line of tank kits to replace the (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: USS Fletcher for public display

(...) Hi, Demanding Dave! ;) Really, I plan out the curve on the carpet, and build to match. But there's also some smoothing involved, making sure that there's some kind of relationship between the angle and the rate of change. I'm hoping to get (...)   Re: Two new WW2 Tank MOC's

Daniel, Wow! so much detail! those are so cool! The opening hatch on the back of the T-34 is just too cool, plus the engine detail makes it even cooler! Those look really great Daniel, I look forward to more of your work! -Geordan- (...) ___...___ (...) (23 years ago, 9-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) Hi George Glad you like the model. The scale 1:125 is of course a bit unusual in the modelling world. But I chose to model in this 1 stud to 1 meter scale of several practical reasons. - it is easy to measure and transfer to the Lego stud (...) (23 years ago, 9-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)
