Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Patrick McFarland
(...) Sigh. That puts me in a very tough position. 1) I hate Megablocks, and refuse to buy their low quality bricks and poor designs. 2) I'm possibly the biggest Gundam fan here. What do I do now? :/ (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Patrick McFarland
(...) Thats what I'm thinking. From the darkened picture they have on the megablocks japan website, I can't see any real special parts... but I'm wondering how they do the joints. Like, Bionicle was a god send for mecha modelers, due the wide range (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Mike Petrucelli
(...) The Lego Exo-force sets (also some of the creator sets like the T-rex) use joints that are sort of quite obviously very similar/copied from the the Blok Bots sets which the Gundam sets appear to use. -Mike Petrucelli (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Patrick McFarland
(...) Yuck, from what I've seen, those are very lame joints. I wonder how hard it would be to shove a bionicle joint in MB's design. (...) (18 years ago, 27-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Dave Schuler
(...) First, courtesy suggests that the least you could do is learn the brand name. I mean, you don't see Mega Bloks fans complaining about Leggos. 8^) Second, the bricks aren't as low quality as you probably think, and many of Mega Bloks' designs (...)          Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Anthony Sava
(...) Gonna have to disagree with you whole heartedly on the quality of Mega Bloks. When the MB Dragons line first came out, I bought several sets, being a dragon fan. I put the sets together and they look good, even if they are built out of (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Mike Petrucelli
(...) Yes sadly the Dragons and Pyrates Mega Bloks lines are some of the worst quality they have done. Its not because of the juniorizedness of the sets either. For some reason the part quality is no where near as good as Mega Bloks' more brick (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, FTX)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Arne Lykke Nielsen
(...) As the owner and builder of about 3000 LEGO sets and 200 MB sets, I have done a lot of comparing the two brands over the years. MB from last millenium is definately of poor quality, just like you describe. MB from the Dragon sets does earn (...)          Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Danny Staple
(...) Sadly my experience of Mega Bloks was pretty bad. I also had issues of actually getting them to stick together sometimes. Have your ever tried stacking 8 or so Mega Bloks 2x1 plates? Then do the same with Lego ones. Now run your finger over (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Dave Schuler
(...) I agree that the plates and bricks don't always line up laser-straight with one another, but honestly I kind of like that. I've never had any major problems as a result, though I acknowledge that the fit can sometimes be a little tight. (...) (...) (18 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Danny Staple
(...) Each to their own I suppose. Outside of the odd mech or spaceship, I generally build robots and machines. Not lining up straight could be a major problem if a mechanism snags something. Of course for more aesthetic models, it actually may add (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: MegaBloks announces Mobile Suit Gundam License —Dave Schuler
(...) Maybe that's the crux of it. I've never been much for building robots or gear-based machines, so perfect tolerances aren't really a factor. I love the slight variations when building walls or hulls, kind of like the way Star Trek vessels are (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)
