WIP - Comments and suggestions much appreciated

Hi all, Just thought I'd post a WIP of my latest Mecha. Its been a while since I've built anything and I have now got a pretty good storage system for my bricks, so it was a joy building this. (URL) The design is loosely based on the ZZ Gundam (saw (...) (18 years ago, 5-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) holy crap, that's a work in ~progress~?! it's wonderful! perhaps some more shots would highlight any areas of weakness - you said about a backpack and we can't see what the back looks like at the moment; but if that were mine, I'd be happy to (...) Hey, Good point about the angles, here's some more pics... (2 URLs) The rear is not really finished yet as you can see, thats why I was going to use a Back pack of some description but not sure what sort of style, winged or boosters, or a mix of (...) Yes you should make a backpack or jetpack. Also some weapons would be a nice (...) (18 years ago, 5-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Magnificent. Suggestions? pfff. That's an awesome Mech. Back pack? Should be really nice to make. How? I'm sure you'll manage given the natural flow of the rest of the Mecha. I'd say just follow that. Great work! e (18 years ago, 5-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Sorry I can't help you with suggestions on where to go next. I just wanted to chime in and say that is a very clean design so far, from what I can see. I would like to see more of how you used those mecha click hinges - did you use them for the (...) (18 years ago, 5-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Looking good - not really saying ZZ to me, but that's just fine, because I hate the ZZ Gundam :). I do have a short list of criticisms and suggestions: Chest: I think moving the whole torso back about a stud on the hip assembly would make it seem (...) I've been informed that lugnet's URL redirection was choking on these so I"ve reposted the offending links below in plain text. (URL) (18 years ago, 6-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Thanks for all kind words and suggestions folks! I have moved the whole torso assembly back one stud and it works better for sure, thanks for the heads-up Soren! Also many thanks for the list of links, not seen GEARS before and there are some (...) (18 years ago, 6-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Jas, Kick butt slope usage. I was posting earlier that you need the backpack and a weapon or two. Soren has some good gun ideas, especially with his more recent NemoII. Also check out David Rabahan's BS folder. He has a folder named "weapons" that (...) (18 years ago, 6-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) I don't know if I can give you much constructive criticism, because so far, I like pretty much everything I see. :-) The only thing that looks off a bit are the forearms. They look short. I'm not a big fan of GlaGla's minifig arms-as-hands (...) (18 years ago, 6-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Latest WIP shot

Cheers again for all comments and ideas... Here is a slightly blurry shot of how its looking so far. The gun needs a little work yet but I'm happy with the shield design. Its a fine balancing act between what looks good and what the arm joints can (...) (18 years ago, 29-Mar-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Hello Jas, as I really don't like Gundam I mostly ignore them. This time I didn't. You did a great job so far. Great use of color. Also like the spotlighting stickers.
