Heres a new MOC, its a Spider Tank Mech:

The Spider Tank represents a lot of firsts for me. Its my first (posted)
multi-ped mech, after drooling over Sorens and Mladens for years. This is
also my first blay MOC. What can I say, its the only solid color I had the
Rescue Chopper canopy part in (well, that and the click joints...) Finally,
its my first time using the click-rotating hinges (yeah, I build reeeeaally
slow). The four hips have three axes of rotation, and each knee has two,
which allows for some good range of motion (for one of my mechs anyway).
Im thinking about a good pose to submit for the mech pose contest.

Oh that is nice. I love the way you got wheels in the feet, and the iconic
Vrieze half-pin missile packs are always a hit with me. The color segregation
works very well, although Id like to see a bit of white that isnt contiguous
to the missile rack. That nose gun is very slick, a (nearly, in my biased,
gripper-loving mind) suitable substitute for a pair of minigun claws.

Lemme know if you have suggestions...

I think the mid-leg segments look a bit weak, not structurally, but in visual
terms they dont look as well-defined to me as the rest of the model. Im
assuming you were going for more of an even-limbed look, but Id really like to
see the foreleg segment extend upwards a bit at the expense of the mid-leg
segments. Might be a good place to get some more white in, too.
It also needs color, desperately. Id say a couple splashes of yellow or red
warning symbols on the missile rack and forelegs would about do it, but as it
is, it doesnt have the dynamic visual impact that color gives a model.
Just my opinion. I still really like it, but you *did* ask for suggestions :).

| (...) Yes, a true Shirow spider tank would never be without a pair of minigun claws. I'm glad I put in extra time on the nose-gun, though. You should have seen the inelegant chunk of crap I had as the first version. It didn't even pivot (...) (20 years ago, 30-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
