Heres a new MOC, its a Spider Tank Mech:
brickshelf gallery
Ill do a MOCpage when the sites back up.
This MOC was heavily inspired by (but not a faithful replica of) a spider tank
featured in the anime Ghost in the Shell--Stand Alone Complex. Its seen in
each opening sequence, and is featured in (I think) episode 2 of the series.
Wheels are mounted in the feet to allow higher speeds on flat surfaces than you
would get just by walking.
The Spider Tank represents a lot of firsts for me. Its my first (posted)
multi-ped mech, after drooling over Sorens and Mladens for years. This is
also my first blay MOC. What can I say, its the only solid color I had the
Rescue Chopper canopy part in (well, that and the click joints...) Finally,
its my first time using the click-rotating hinges (yeah, I build reeeeaally
slow). The four hips have three axes of rotation, and each knee has two,
which allows for some good range of motion (for one of my mechs anyway). Im
thinking about a good pose to submit for the mech pose contest.
Cross-posted to .space cuz Lenny featured it in his highlight sidebar. Thanks
Lenny!
Hope you all enjoy, lemme know if you have suggestions...

| (...) Hello Kyle, great work! You did a really good job on this multi-ped (like you always do, BTW). I like your MOC very much. Spider Tank has a wonderfull shape. IMO Studless! The bley and black fit well together. I'm a bit puzzled about the white (...) (20 years ago, 29-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (...) Oh that is nice. I love the way you got wheels in the "feet", and the iconic Vrieze half-pin missile packs are always a hit with me. The color segregation works very well, although I'd like to see a bit of white that isn't contiguous to the (...) (20 years ago, 29-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (...) I can dig it. You've got nice set of smooth, sorta bulbous in places, shapes that works really well. The mech ends up looking just a little cute, but that's OK. Getting the wheels in there and keeping it able to stand and pose is also very (...) (20 years ago, 29-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (...) Hello Kyle. Fantastic job on the Spider Tank. I saw it on GITS SAC myself and always wanted to see something like it made of Lego. You have done this for me and I thank you very much! The only suggestion I can give you is changin the colors a (...) (20 years ago, 29-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| Hey Kyle, I love this tank! The details are phenominal. I think my favorite aspect of it are the treads on the feet because wheels and mecha don't usually go together. Keep up the fantastic work! | Man wow. You desreve all the praise heaped onto you here. I only got this for ya. Photography, lighten up the black so we can see it. The cockpit shot is almost useless because all we see is black. So there's my critizism. Pretty lame of me. Dang (...) (20 years ago, 29-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (...) Kyle, Kyle, Kyle. That's absolutely beautiful, and an excellent use of the "new" ball joints. A couple of questions: 1) The white missile racks appear to vary in the pictures. Is that so, or is that a system of covers? 2) Do you have better (...) (20 years ago, 30-Apr-05, to lugnet.build.mecha)

| (...) (4 URLs) (...) I don't have much to say that hasn't already been stated... The color arrangement is beautiful... dark bley seems to actually look good on this one. That is bley, right? You make it better than grey! Oh, and the feet are cute. (...) (20 years ago, 2-May-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| Doooood! Duuuuude, dewww...wwwd. Oh dang sorry for the late reply. Hang on, here it comes: I REALLY LIKE THIS QUAD! Come on! The feet, the canopy, the stocky leg joints, the color, the shooty things, the rear mounted optional missle racks! DANG. I (...) (20 years ago, 3-May-05, to lugnet.build.mecha)

| Okay I'm really late to the show, but I've been playing catch up and this is one of the cooler mecha I've seen. First off, the colour scheme adds so much to this. Don't you dare add any highlights! =^P It makes it a lot harder and sleeker, not to (...) (19 years ago, 26-May-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
