We had some simple criteria.¬

1. Do it ourselves with permission from the builders.¬
2. Keep our identities secret.¬
3. Keep an eye out accross the web for Mecha Designs.¬
4. A simple voting process conducted in a remote forum.¬

I think that's a reasonable system. I never knew that before. It might be
worth putting this on the new website.

I suppose back then we didn't know how to put it politely. TBH, I think we also
liked the mystery. Perhaps now it should be made more clear for the present
times.

Remember when Shazam visited the "Elders".

We kept our identities secret for many reasons.¬
Mostly because we did not want to hear a buch of flack from people and
avoid¬ all the second guessing that comes along with a public arena.¬

Did it help? From your descriptions further down, it seems it didn't. Still,
I respect that choice.

Thank you.

Now there are just a few things I must say. These are not easy things to
say,¬ but they are the truth.¬

The old Founders have all but gone away.¬
Some are dormant, some have moved on, some lurk. Some are living great¬
adventures elsewhere in life. These things happen. A couple just simply
don't¬ want to be involved anymore. Hey fine. We are not married and I wish
all the¬ best to those in their personnal pursuits. The LMHoF will always be
there to¬ greet you when you return.¬

Fair enough, but I'm sure you'd find enough willing members to fill out the
ranks of those that have moved on.

Question is: Have we moved on? Have they moved on?
I see posts, and checking in's. They are around.
Duty to life and to the Halls!

Given some time, some measures will be taken. The tools are almost in my grasp.

Anyway, what do you do with a collection of old mechs, and Mechsters?
heh heh

To those who say the LMHoF is elitest, your missing the point.¬
I ask you, to what level of excellence should people be held for induction.¬
The whole point to having a Hall of Fame is to exemplify excellence and¬
inovation. The standards should be somewhat high. Or we risk just having a
big¬ Mecha Club. Something we wanted to avoid.¬

I don't recall any such talk here in recent memory. Besides, I thought the
whole point of the Hall of Fame was to be elitist. It is a gallery of the
elite builders of the genre, and something for us mere peasants to aspire to.
And this is where my problem is - there have been some outstanding builders
in the time I've been here, but no change in the Hall of Fame, even though I
think they are more than deserving of a place. I don't have a problem with
the selection process (now that I know what it is), nor the secret society of
The Founders, nor any of what you've talked about, merely that it seems to
have become one of those lost and forgotten cornes of the web that never gets
updated, when it really should be a vibrant, integral part of the mech
building community.

Oh I know, and thank you. The response has been positive. The LMHoF has ment
something. It means you are out there building and others are too.

I can recall many messages sent to us. Each with their own connection and
showing of apreciation.

What do you think of the Lego Mecha Hall of Fame?¬

It could be excellent.

Has it helped you?¬

When I first came out of my dark ages, certainly. It never occured to me to
even think of building these things until I saw the HoF and .build.mecha. But
it hasn't changed since then, so I hardly ever visit any more. I didn't even
know the site was under construction until yesterday, and you say it's been
this way for a year? These days I find the 'New Mech' archives on the sidebar
a much more useful reference.

Smart, it's the life pulse. Here.

Also, I think its safe to say that if you have visited the LMHoF, been through
its halls, you've been there a hundred times. So the traffic has leveled off.

*cough yeah, like tumble weed flat cough*
Oh self inflicted wound.

Yet the great idea remains. An archive and resource. Honoring mecha design.
Keeping pace with the developments, enhancing understanding.

That should always be part of the goal. I like that.

What would you like to see happen?¬

Something. Anything. I trust The Founders intentions, but they seem to need a
little prodding into action ;) This seems to be happening now.

Cheers, and thanks for the clarifications.

Allister

I hear that. Its all about your attention. I just happened to turn my attention
towards this at this time. I hope to return to the attention. However as part of
my healing process, I am trying not to pay too much attention to any one thing,
I needed a break, yet I still don't want it to die.
Maybe with permission and discussion, a solution and or help could be sought.

As for the near term. A new site could be drafted from the existing plans we
last had in place with the help of my blasted bloody frelling muck of a lap-top
computer, of which I will love dearly, once my new pwr sup arrives.

Until then, hear my suffering and lamenting as I use my Mom's 133 Mhz speed
computer. And with an Operating speed like that, its almost a crime to use the
word speed.

Good news is I connect at 53K. bley.
Oh someone crack a mom joke, the stress is killing me!
