Re: 2nd Annual Space Building Contest

I can't speak for others, but it wouldn't really bother me much if there weren't any obvious (ie, with the triangular blacktron insignia) pieces in the model. It's more a style thing with me. ~ Tom William R Ward <bill@wards.net> wrote in message (...) (25 years ago, 20-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: 2nd Annual Space Building Contest

(...) I don't have any Blacktron *anything*, I or II. Both of those were solidly in Dark Ages for me. I do have lots of black and yellow pieces though, including trans-yellow from the Classic Space sets. Do we need to use special pieces such as (...) (...) Amazing! I had never noticed this part before -- my eyes only scan for elements when I look at these catalogues, and I have this very catalogue myself (probably in storage). (...) *sigh* My bad <-- See I can fess up! I looked it up, it was a BT2 thing in the 1991 US/CA catalog. So not a BT1 story, per se. -Jason (25 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Re: Blacktron Competition questions

I don't think we'll worry too much about amount of pieces, really. A minifig counts as one piece, I would think. If your model ends up being right around the border, then contact us and we'll decide which category it will go in. But I don't think (...) (25 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

  Blacktron Competition questions

Hi, I have a question about the Blacktron comp. How original do the entries have to be? I remember a few entries in the last comp were modified versions of real sets. Also, is a man 1 peice? and are things like Battrax wheels 1 or 2 peices? thanks! (...) (25 years ago, 18-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: 2nd Annual Space Building Contest?

You know, looking at this REALLY awful design (whta's it called -- "The Air-Catcher"?) prompted me to make some changes to the nose in MLCad, a yellow Wedge 3x4 plate and a Wedge 4x4 w/ BT logo, and I realized that I wasn't even sure if the former (...) Okay guys, here it is: tell me what you think and if it's time to open the flood gates and begin taking entries. I would be interested to know just how many kids prefered to be the cops when we played cops and robbers back then. I for one will admit that I always liked being on the robbers side. Bad guys are always more interesting. Good guys are limited in (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.space)

(...) < How many times can I return to answer the same question? > In thinking about this a bit more, I think the attraction to BT1 comes down to the color scheme above all else. (...) Duuuuude! Don't be like that, give us a reference! I have several of each of the BT1 sets, and lot's of promotional materials from the same BT1 sets MISB (all opened now), and I have NEVER seen this suggested storyline. I am all ears, baby! (...)   Re: what defines a MOC as blacktron? was: (2nd Annual Space Building Contest)

(...) Actually, a story like that (pretty close) was in the US and Canada LEGO catalog around 1988. Additionally if someone in the Atlanta area needs to use a BT1 minifig, I can loan you one for picture taking purposes. -Jason (25 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests)
