I don't think we'll worry too much about amount of pieces, really. A
minifig counts as one piece, I would think. If your model ends up being
right around the border, then contact us and we'll decide which category it
will go in. But I don't think it'll really be a problem.
As for originality, I personally will give more points to a completely
original creation. I mean, let's face it - it's not too hard to take an
already-very cool blacktron model, add some stuff to it, and still have it
be cool. ;) I think modifications are legal, but keep in mind this is an
MOC comp, not an MOBPCBTLGOC
(mostly-original-but-partly-created-by-the-lego-group-original-creation)
Some judges may prefer completely original to mostly original.

| Hi, I have a question about the Blacktron comp. How original do the entries have to be? I remember a few entries in the last comp were modified versions of real sets.
