I don’t think it should necessarily be taken an indicator of an increasing
willingness on my part to put knife to brick. I’ve had these stories in mind
for almost two years now, and knew all along that I would need to match the
brutality in these stories with a brutality toward a few choice bricks in
order to achieve the effect I was going for. I just don’t trust that I could
have retained the shocking nature of this passage without the similar shock
of seeing an actual LEGO head split in two.

Yeah, I don’t know what it says about me as a person, but I’m more upset at the
sight of mutilated Lego than I am at the idea of someone getting killed
violently in his sleep.
By the way, I love the backward-helmet look here...I don’t think it always
works, but this particular army looks awesome. And of course, great job
overall; the pacing and framing of this story meet your usual top-notch
standards.
