It looks like it was designed after one of the earlier
Mig fighter craft, the name escapes me at the moment. But the wings on that
craft swept forward such as they do on your model, and it had the little
winglets protruding from under the cockpit area.

Although I didn't use any pictures while building, semi-concious inspiration
came from the Grumman X-29[1] and Grumman F-14 Tomcat[2].
