In lugnet.announce, Bram Lambrecht writes:
The Shrike Interceptor is built for high speed and maneuverability.  The wings
sweep to three different positions: when straight out, they provide the most
lift for takeoff and landing; when swept forward, they increase
maneuverability at sub-mach speeds for dogfight situations; and when
swept back, the jet can reach its top speed for those long hauls.  The landing
gear completely retracts, and the cockpit and the storage compartment behind it
swing open.  Since my website isn't quite ready (and I already exceeded my disk
quota), here's the Brickshelf gallery:

It is a nice vehicle but not necessarily nice as a space craft.  It is more
reminiscent of a F-15 Eagle or a F-16 Tomcat.  If this was going to be an
air craft, then I would say that it is a nice piece of art but this is a
design that seems to me, at least in my opinion, that does not work with the
general concept of space fighter craft.  I like the design but I do not
believe that outer space is the best idea for this particular vehicle.

(...) It's not a space craft. It's just a futuristic jet. I posted to .space because many of the space folk are interested in this genre of creations as well, and there is no specific "air" group. --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (23 years ago, 23-Jul-01, to lugnet.build)
