By the way, does anybody know if Dan Jassim is working on another big
moc or has he simply slowed down for a while?

I chatted with him on the phone Friday night and he said he'd designed a new
carrier with an interesting way for the fighters to dock. I'm looking
forward to seeing it.

What I'd really love to see is something akin to the way the Star Furies
launch from Babylon 5.  They're mounted on pivots, and when deploying, a
door opens below them and the Star Furies swing down and shoot straight out.
That way you don't have all your ships launching from one or two bays, they
spew forth from all over the ship.  They're returned to their launch
platforms through a typical launch bay though.  I can already see the
technic girders and rubber band spring loaded mechanism that makes this
work, but I've no chance of getting enough pieces together to build a
carrier.  But to dream...
Anybody want to build a minifig scale Babylon 5?  It's only 5 miles long.

(...) Actually, there's more than just an asthetic or flight control reason for B5's Cobra bays to act like they do. At the time B5 is built, the Earth Alliance only has centrifugal artificial gravity- ie, they generate gravity by spinning sections. (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)
