Why does the Znap qualify? Please check all that apply:
(1) Because it was sold under the Lego name.
(2) Because it has holes that Technic pins fit in.
(3) Some other reasons (please state).
Things to think about:
* If TLC bought Knex, would Knex then qualify?
* If TLC bought Knex and introduced a single
connector piece: a "Knex-beam-to-technic-peg"
connector, would Knex then qualify?
* Do random plastic playscapes and storage boxes
sold under the Lego name qualify?
* Does use of Lego motor wires as cables qualify?
I think if Lego building competitions were as mature
as, say, Auto Racing, there would be different divisions
based on which materials were allowable.
Personally, I feel that a Znap + Lego bricks structure
is not a "pure" Lego construction. Not to say there
is anything wrong with that. I've combined them
myself. But such a construction doesn't have that
"Lego Look & Feel" for me.
Using homemade stickers for decoration, or non-Lego wires
as cables, however --- those are obviously non-Lego,
yet don't interfere as much with the Lego Look & Feel
as Znap does, IMHO.
