A bit of overkill don't you think - a '94 700 piece $80(Ebay) set for a
single part? Got a copy of that set you would split up for it?  :-)

Had three, broke up 2 (last fall when they were not bringing in very
much as a set). Actually one is in limbo... • [snip]

Wonders never cease. Thanks.
OK, this is probably a separate dicussion, but it seems to me a bit of a waste
to split up complete, older sets just for one part...
Any opinions out there?
I've liberally split up sets 3 and 4 years old, and even some 7 years old for
BAYLIT - but I'm often reluctant to do so... I justify this in that I can get
the older parts to a larger group who value them...

If a set is sealed, I won't.  If it's opened but polybags are closed, I won't.  If
it's open and repacked, I might.  It depends on the RoI I'm likely to see in
return, and whether or not it will deny me a complete set on some Faraway Future
Date.

This is part of the reason that, with almost no exceptions, I never try to get
MISB sets on eBay or in trades--I feel too guilty to enjoy them.  I prefer them to
be open and loose (but complete, of course).  Then I don't have to feel that big
DROP in my stomach when I break the seal!

best

Lindsay

(...) I LIKE that part ;-) Opening the MISB 6571 was a trip! It's so bizarre to build such a nice, HIGH QUALITY (TLC, you listening?) old set with such wonderful parts. Cracking open MISB 4558s somewhat hurts, though ;-) I've opened one, I can't (...) (25 years ago, 26-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
