Does anyone have any ideas as to how one would build a chain link fence?

I did some playing around but was never able to get anything that was quite
'right'. Granted I never tried the string-nets, though.

I feel certain that I've seen someone use the 8x8 plates with grills:
I thought it might be in Keith Goldman's Iron Reich models, but don't see
anything.

We used those for the "netting" you often see around construction yards for
NELUG's Quarry project: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=50332
I think that was the best solution we had at the time...

How about using 1x4x2 fences, somehow put together snot-wise:

I played around with that once and it looked ok-- the only problem being the
width of the "poles" was a bit thick. I wonder if there's a way to slim them
down... Hm.

Then there's those... uh... pieces. That... uh.. I can't find. Incredibly rare,
and look like the 1x4x1 lattice fences, but with no bottoms, and like... 8 studs
long. Could wedge those in somehow, perhaps. Hm. But they're hard to come by in
quantity.

(...) Is this the piece you're referring to: (URL) call it a "train signal mast", it's more than 8 studs long, and yes, you'll have a hard time getting a large quantity of those! -Bryan (19 years ago, 20-May-05, to lugnet.build)
