  Re: new shock absorber part?

(...) Yes, 2 softer ones and this 1 stiffer type. (...) I don't quite remember how 8858 was different. The 8865 system would make sense, as it will allow for any large-enough-diameter tire, rather than the 8880 specialty - which is of course not (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: new shock absorber part?

(...) Yep! But the other shock cylinders in the set, are they of the softer kind? So there's two kinds of shock suspenders in the set? (...) No, there is one in the 8417 set as well. (URL) also looks like the 8448, which is due this year, has the (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  new shock absorber part?

In 8428/32 (Cool Car/Turbo Command) there is a single small shock absorber in the suspension-lowering 'toggle switch' mechanism. Its grey part is actually dark grey, and the spring has fewer windings (~4 instead of ~6) and is much stiffer. Is this (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Reason 5H bricks are good

(...) I could see that. Also, the smoothness of the 5H bricks (fewer inter-brick lines) would increase the asthetic appeal of skyscraper models. My big problem with 5H bricks is when they give the illusion of solid construction. Without adequate (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Reason 5H bricks are good

(...) Yes. (...) I've often thought that those taller bricks would be cool to use in big structures, like some of the big skyscraper/office building types. That, IMO, neither limits creativity nor violates integrity (or purism). It only does so when (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

Jeff Stembel wrote in message ... (...) <snip my own misinformation on Conway Castle> (...) castle (...) That is what I get spouting off on interesting but half remembered topics. I told my psuedo-Welsh friend about Bob's castles and he reminded me (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Completely agreed. Absolutely incredible. Next question - any guesses as to *how much* Lego this gentleman has to work with? I'm not a castle- head, so I couldn't begin to guess... -Tim (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Yeah, it has a suspension bridge and a railroad bridge, both of which have towers made to look like Castle turrets. Very Cool! When I get home, I'll hafta look for the guide book I bought When I was there a couple years ago. :) Jeff (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) I too like Conwy better. Isn't it the one with the suspension bridge very close by. Everytime I see Caernarvon Castle, I think of Prince Charles 1969 investiture, where Queen Elizabeth II had a "bad fashion day". (No offense to the Windsors, (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Reason 5H bricks are good

I found an application where two 1x2x5 bricks worked much better than 5 1x4 bricks. I was building a framework with Technic beams (basically the same thing I posted to lugnet.cad.dat the other day). I was inserting stacks of 1x4 bricks between the (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Conwy and Caernarvon are two different castles. Caernarvon is where Prince Charles' ceremony to become Prince of Whales was held. It has Octagonal Towers, is sorta curved in overall shape, and I believe it is the royal castle in Whales. (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Whoa, Nelly!! These are some of the best Lego castles I've ever seen! I've been to a number of the castles he built, and the detail is amazing! I'm sooooo jealous! Jeff P.S. Sorry for the exclaimation marks, but I had to express my admiration. (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

Wow! I'm not into castles, but these are great. They're minifig scale too! (26 years ago, 18-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) These are simply great! I liked the welsh castle the best. -Tom McD. (wishing he had that many and varied grey pieces :) (26 years ago, 17-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: New Space Ship added to site, check it out!

(...) You are speaking of the 1x1 brick w/ 4 side studs, yes? They come as part of a decorative assembly in several of the ninja sets - 1 of those, 2 'trash can lids', and a 2x2x2 cone brick, all in dark grey, that make a decorative thingie. (26 years ago, 17-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 60 degree problem

(...) Hmm.. I have 6 in red. Any guesses as to which set it's from? before 85, I think, cuz that was approximately when I got them. Jasper (26 years ago, 17-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: gender changers?

(...) You mean Tyco and Lego are compatible? *drool* why can't we get that here? anyway: Lego also makes.. or ahs made, at least, 2*2/1*4 hinges of 1 brick high. 375 comes with 8 yellow ones, and some other castle sets come wih grey ones...
