Re: Tinkering the 8880 suspension setup

(...) Ah, but they're not the kind which can tilt in the end opposite to the ball joint, right? The ones on the 8437 are basically a 2x1 plate with an A-arm and a ball joint? I'm sorry to say that it's probably hard to make independent front (...) (26 years ago, 24-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 18 wheeler truck

(...) I believe the truck weighed more. By just a little bit. The super car had heft, but it wasn't real heavy. BTW, if you ever get a super car, try dropping it from about a foot up onto a tabletop. Cool... :-) (...) I just went through gearing an (...) (26 years ago, 24-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 18 wheeler truck

(...) Cool set, huh? Though that huge pile of bricks when beginning is a bit daunting. I left mine together for over a year, and just tore it apart last weekend. Sorting it all out was a _pain_, but I needed some of those parts. -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 24-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

Bram Lambrecht wrote in message <19981223.221425.509...no.com>... (...) I think the 5571 is heavier - I've got both but haven't had them both assembled at the same time. 4 of the ungeared motors will move a supercar, but I had to "wreck" the car to (...) (26 years ago, 24-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

Re: Tinkering the 8880 suspension setup

(...) Well I have 2. So I have enough of the specialty steering parts, etc. What I would want would be the 1 and 2 bend round end technic beams and other construction parts. I have plenty of gears and differentials for the kind of building I do (...) (26 years ago, 24-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

James Mathis wrote: [about motorizing the 5571] (...) Unfortunately, I don't have the super car, so I couldn't tell you whick weighs more. The 5571 is *heavy* and that's why my motorization didn't work. I tried to use two geared motors and extra (...) (26 years ago, 24-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC Engine: DB V140

(...) Wow. Any flaws I could mention would only detract from a magnificent model. But you know me, here they are. :-) Every single one of these is due to a limitation of the media. 1. The drive wheels are too small. But this just points out (...) (26 years ago, 23-Dec-98, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build)

  New MOC Engine: DB V140

Got inspired to work on a model of the German Federal Railways DB V140 diesel hydrolic locomotive. Primary pieces to make this model of the DB V140 come from: 1. 4551 9v train locomotive a. the two cab faces b. red-ribbed 2x2 bricks 2. 5571 Model (...)   Re: Tinkering the 8880 suspension setup

Larry... What parts are you looking for from the 8437? I only have 1 but don't nearly all the parts. Fred... There are 4 yellow "A" arms in the 8437. Warning about the flex link w/the ball joints on the end. DO NOT let a 5yr old hold a completed car (...) (26 years ago, 23-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

  Re: 18 wheeler truck

  Re: 18 wheeler truck

(...) Bram, Great Truck! Beautiful use of the quarter-disk bricks to shape the front top of the sleeper on the cab. The scale is very nice, as well. Good design. later, James (26 years ago, 23-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)

Re: Tinkering the 8880 suspension setup

(...) Just as a note, I have enough of the gears and such from 8437, but would be willing to buy a partial 8437 from folks after they raided one for the parts they needed.   Re: Tinkering the 8880 suspension setup

(...) Yep! That's what I did on the X1/9. I should probably write some more descriptive text under the X1/9, since I've gotten a couple of questions on that one. The 8440 has rigid axles, as you've observed, but it still has the pieces needed to (...) (26 years ago, 23-Dec-98, to lugnet.build)
