  Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow

(...) I know nothing about these mangas, but this small landmate is pure genious! It was impossible for me at first sight to say it's made of Lego! I thought it was a mini figure, a toy, when I first saw that on BS. Incredible use of Bionicle parts! (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) I used to think that bipedal war machines had absolutely no advantages over their tank-al equivalents beyond "wow" factor (and face it, getting your enemy to say, "wow, that's cool that they can do that," just before he blows you to kingdom (...)   Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) Yes! This is exactly the point I touched upon in my WTC design paper(1). I've dubbed this type of technique as "mind's eye modeling", which I describe as "creating a model that visually matches or exceeds what a typical person expects to see. (...)   Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow

(...) -snip- I'm seeing Shirow cues all over this thing. The feet, the AV sensor "wings" in the back, the head and "ears", the rifle that looks "Swiss", like the rifles Deunan and Bri had in book 2... I think your prototype without the slave arms (...)   Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) Ahhh...O.K. I think I see what you mean/meant. You're talking about a builder-manufactured "microfig" rather than something like the LEGO-manufactured "minifigs". (...) I think you've hit on what I was trying to suggest earlier. That this (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Adam Silcott's ALM-011

(...) Um, I feel a little self-conscious after drooling over the ALM-011 on not one but two different Mocpages, but what the heck. It's pretty rare that someone de-lurks with basically a master-class mech, so I feel I have to chime in and say, More! (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) I am a micro newbie. I followed the general "a micro fig is a 1x1 round" guideline for BrickFest and built a building. It was a total blast to do although in my opinion actually quite difficult to get the desired look. A very intriguing (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) Well my micro creations have varied from about 1:100 to 1:250 or less, so I obviously think that the actual scale is fairly flexible. For instance, though I know some will disagree, I think (URL) comes within my notion of micro. And I think (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) Oh, good. I always enjoy articulating ripe potential-yet-unvoiced notions. (...) It seems the *convention* (not a standard) espoused by Ashley Glennon and Janey "Red Brick" is that a "microfig" be a 1x1 round cylinder (optionally with a 1x1 (...)   4.5 Foot Tall Clock Tower

This is my latest LEGO architectural piece. It is a fictitious clock tower that is less than minifig scale. It is roughly 33 stories tall (four and a half feet) my tallest LEGO skyscraper yet. The clock is purely aesthetic, it does not function. It (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

  Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow

I always love to see the slick use of Bionicle pieces. And considering how long it took me to figure out what it was, I'd say this one is especially slick. It's been a long time since I read Appleseed, so I don't remember exactly what it's supposed (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) Hello all, IMO, Microscale is really in a development stage, and although there are some key players that have done some outstanding work and have for years, most AFOL have yet to dabble in this scale. Micro is a delight because with in a (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Halloween Contest ?

I'll definitely have an entry as well. Ever since I made The Raven last Halloween I've had an itch to do more Poe creations. Bruce (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.contests)

Re: The Brick Testament:The Massacre of Jericho

Hey Brendan, And there was much rejoicing! I really like how you put together the map. The way the water matches up on the right side is particularly pleasing. The wall is nice--congratulations on finding a use for those pieces. On the horns, I've (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow

Looks awesome David! You got all the details right, even the small arms in the torso. I love the foot design, it's really cool. Heh, very nice overall. That said, I actually prefer the version without all the Landmate details. It just looks sleeker. (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) I agree. Down with compartmentalized dorkism! There was similar sillines (IMO) in .space when people wanted to come up with standard rules for defining different types of spaceships, ignoring the fact that these MOCs by different builders were (...)   Re: Definition of "micro"

(...) I was talking to Janey Cook about this very issue just recently; she had told me that some people wished to have some sort of established levels of scale. I told her this idea was silly. What I like most about micro-scale is how free-form it (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: Brickfest

(...) That is a ring world created by Lenny Hoffman. Its a huge ring around a planet or star, that rotates, with gravity produced by centrifugal force (centripedal?) Its a common concept seen in Sci-fi novels, although Lenny's is ridicolously out of (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) That entirely depends on what technology you want to speculate on. Power armor would require an incredibly powerful and small power source. I suppose that is a given if you are saying that power armor would exist. The problem with power armor (...)   Brickfest

Hi all, I've been poring over pictures by "scrope" in this folder: (URL) great stuff! I really need to build more at this scale. To me, the best of show is this train station: (URL) built that? Was it a COLTC group creation, or was it an individual? (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale)
