Re: Hasbro goes to the bricks!

(...) Hmmmmmm...this may not be a bad thing. It might finally be the kick in the butt necessary to get Lego to wake up and release more modern sets, and get past their anti-violence fears. At some point they simply have to go ahead and do it.. (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Heavy duty mecha (or other) joint

(...) Probably some technic beams & pins could hold the arches together nicely & give it more strength (URL) Jeff (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Little Mech

Hi, This is a small mech I made some months ago and only now got the chance to photograph (new digicam - woohoo!). It's heinously unstable, and won't balance in many poses, but it's got all the important articualtion points. (URL) Brickshelf Folder> (...)   Re: Awesome mech images

(...) Done! And a link to your creations as well for submitting that fine site. My personal favorite: (URL) That is one lovely design! -Dave (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Heavy duty mecha (or other) joint

(...) Yep, but to get the joint strength, you'll need to re-inforce the sides of the cylinder brick. Solution: switch to an r2-d2 body instead like so: (2 URLs) This way, not only do you have your joint, but you have SNOT wherever you need it. It's (...)   Awesome mech images

I woul just like to ask to have a link put up in the inspirational site link for .mecha. It has seemed to rekindle my love affair for mechs (not mechas :) ) These were done by the amateur artist Pawel Czarmecki and i believe them to be IMHO the (...)   Re: Heavy duty mecha (or other) joint

(...) Jeff, that's pretty cool. I wonder what would happen if you put a 2x2 cylinder brick: [LDrawPart 3941:15] inside of a couple 1x4x1 arches: [LDrawPart 3659:15:2] Is that possible with some SNOT to hold the arches together? --Todd (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Hasbro goes to the bricks!

(...) BOOO...OOO! BOOO...OOO! BOOO...OOO! Death to Hasbro, now they are trying clone TLC! *mutters under breath* We can't trust any of them - there is only ONE construction toy, and that is LEGO! (URL) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Re: Variable Speed, reversible pneumatic engine

(...) You have no need to apoligize. Your way of understanding is completely valid and brings to light many new ideas way outside the scope of my thinking and that of many others, I'm sure. I believe I do understand your explaination. So, it makes (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: Variable Speed, reversible pneumatic engine

<snip> (...) You don't get very good speed control. I'd think that using the small range between completely off and completely on for one of the ports of a switch would be a better speed control. In the parially on state, you'd get constricted flow. (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  Hasbro goes to the bricks!

Looks like Hasbro is going to be entering the construction brick market with their GI Joe and Transformers line. Old hat, man. ;p Cheers, -G ****** Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE:HAS) announced today that it will enter the block construction category, (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Fuchi Fuchi!

(...) Soren, This thing is dang spiffy. The amount of detailing you packed in there is superb. I think I've only seen a Fuchi once but I'm pretty sure you captured the aesthetic to a -chi (ok, bad joke). I too really like the tubing frame and use of (...)   Re: Fuchi Fuchi!

(...) Soren, great fuchi... I would even go as far as saying that this is one of the best ones I have seen here. I love the hands. Great one! I also noticed that redo of the SAFS you posted, nice one also. Later. (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Fuchi Fuchi!

Fuch-tastic, Soren! An excellent little scrambler in it's own right, but the use of those levers with the doubled up lever bases over the shaft in the feet just solved a problem I've been having on another project....many thanks to you sir!   Re: Variable Speed, reversible pneumatic engine

(...) Thanks. (...) Correct. (...) Right ;^) (...) Yes, you can reverse the engine on the fly. It doesn't take much to make the engine not run. It takes a quarter turn of the case to get from ideal forward to ideal backward. (...) Kevin (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  Re: Fuchi Fuchi!

(...) Well, I have to say mecha aren't much my thing (least of all Fuchi's), but yours is a work of art! Your detailing is uber. What's the little black bit connecting the hose pieces on the front-top-middle? Is it a short piece of stiff tubing, or (...) (21 years ago, 5-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
