 Building / *1450 (-20)
LEGO Sears Tower @ Chicago O'Hare Airport

I had to go to a meeting at O'Hare Airport (Chicago) today. When in O'Hare I never venture out of the the American Airlines terminal complex but today I was with my boss, a diehard Continental flyer. He needed to change his flight so we wondered (...) (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

  Sources for large wheels

I'm finding I really like using the large diameter spoked wheels that come in the RIS. Does anyone where more can be purchased? I can't find them in S@H or Dacta. -Wes (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.robotics)

Re: What kind of wheels are used on this bike?

Yes, they are pullies. They most likely have a Technic spacer between them, and it would probably work just fine for making custom rims. As for the playability of that particular model, I don't care, it LOOKS cool ;-) Now if I could only get ALL (...) (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: What kind of wheels are used on this bike?

(...) Most stuff at Legoland, unfortunatly, isn't designed to be "playable". But you're right, those are pullies for the hubs. The tires are standard small balloon tires. Jeff (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Do you separate old vs. new LEGO?

(...) My old lego is constantly at war with my new lego. I build tanks- like vehicles from my old 70's lego (mostly yellow universal and blue/grey space sets) and have battles with the new lego. My old lego vehicles are manned by old space and (...) (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.build)

What kind of wheels are used on this bike?

This image is from Tom Stangl's Legoland image repository: (URL) beautifully designed bike has some rather odd wheels. What kind of LEGO wheels are that? The hubs look like green medium pulleys. But while the design is indeed very nice, I fear that (...) (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Lego "pegging" disks

(...) These gears are used in Marcus' Kinetoscope and Wind Mill at: (URL) they can certainly be used with Mindstorms too. Play well! Franz-Michael S. Mellbin --- Franz-Michael S. Mellbin (URL) fmm@fischer-mellbin.com (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  How to reapply stickers?

Hi. I have a few old stickers (from 7722 and 7725 to be precise) which are either on the wrong brick or have (apparently) been applied once and stuck back on the sticker sheet. Does anybody have experience, good or bad, with taking stickers off (...) (25 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lego "pegging" disks

(...) I still have a lot of my Lego parts from 60s and 70s (some pictures of them at my site), but I'm pretty sure the first gears were the ones mentioned by Ralph. The largest was yellow, the medium one blue and the smaller red. Axles were white (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: Flatbeds trucks and train M.O.W. vehicles

(...) could get with the lab's digital camera for my model photographs. Thanks for posting that you added images to your web site. later, James Mathis (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lego "pegging" disks

(...) Am I absolutely dreaming, or was there an earlier set of gears which were all grey? I seem to remember having Lego gears, but definitely don't remember multi-color ones. Such a set would have been from the early 70s (or possibly earlier if we (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Flatbeds trucks and train M.O.W. vehicles

I just posted some pictures at the links below. The first link has some maintenance vehicles for trains and the second link is flatbed and box vans for your town. (URL) Paul Foster (URL) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lego "pegging" disks

Dunno, but I have several of these gears, no box or anything else, that I would trade away. If anyone is interested, I'll dig them all out and get a list of which ones I have.   Re: Do you separate old vs. new LEGO?

Yep. I'm in the same boat, less than 5% worn Lego (mainly because I sold most of my old Lego to finance buying a lot of the new Lego), so I keep it in a separate tub. (...) -- | Tom Stangl, Technical Support Netscape Communications Corp | | Please (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Lego "pegging" disks

(...) Now that you mention them I remember I have some too! Pre-Technic Lego gears. They are HUGE. I guess I got mine in the first half of the seventies. There was a very nice black chain too with two studs on each piece, ideal to join any standard (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: Do you separate old vs. new LEGO?

Gary Istok wrote (...) Yes, especially since I wasn't that careful in taking care of my Lego as a child, so it is noticeably scratched up. I do this for the exact same reason, when I build something I want it to look clean and consistent, and those (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Do you separate old vs. new LEGO?

(...) Wow. I did not expect this answer from you. But yeah, shiny building sometimes bother me a bit too. Stuff that's supposed to represent actual brick/stucco/plaster as opposed to a shiny glass/metal skyscraper kinda sticks out. -Tom McD. when (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Lego "pegging" disks

(...) I have a co-woker who has an half-complete set of these in the original box -- I don't know the number -- but wow, they're cool. Is there any way I could find out what the market value of a complete set would be? Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  RE: Lego "pegging" disks

(...) But they DID, way, way back. I still have a set (2 Yellow 3 blue and 2 red) of the old BIG tooth gears. The yellow set is about the size of an 8x8 plate nad has a 5x5 grid of holes. The set has the old white Technic axles and red bushings. (...) (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: Do you separate old vs. new LEGO?

(...) I do not segregate new from old. In fact, I like the variation of wear/scratches/dirt that old bricks have. IMO, it makes buildings look more realistic. A building of all brand new bricks is just too shiny and pristine for me. (25 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.build)
